Hey!

Just bought a 05 Golf GTI after stupidly selling my 09 Polo TDI and buying a Mini Cabrio in early 2011 and on the steering wheel it had a phone button to answer and hang up, I looked in the manual and it said i need to have a car phone?

Anyone know how to use it? Is it compatible with an iphone?

Any other cool things my car has/does that i don't know about? Any help/advise is very appreciated!

Thanks

Hi Jess,

That button is standard but unfortunately Bluetooth is not, chances are it's just a button which does nothing, unless of course the original owner ticked that box.

Congrats on the new car though!

As it's an 05 GTI you could go with the Dension Gateway 5 for $200 less, and has MDI (iPod, USB, AUX In) combined.

What headunit do you have? Blue screen or touch screen?

Its a blue screen.

Im not that fussed on installing one, just would have been cool if it was already in there!

Thanks

Any suggestions for adding Bluetooth to MkV GTI (2008/MY09)? Any ideas what the dealers would charge and any alternative options recommended?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you may need to upgrade the headunit to get the BT to work. From memory, the bluescreen units DON'T have phone capability?

The Parrot CK3000 with Steering wheel kit is good.

I had it for 3 years and the sound quality was good. No screen phonebook or interface but you can use all the steering wheel buttons.

Otherwise, if you have a full height MFD then go with a Dension unit.

Any ballpark on price / place of purchase?

My bad, was thinking VW OEM bluetooth. After markets will do the job.

Referral from people who have installed themselves is better than random store/website from google. Thanks.

Find the cheapest price online. That's all I did.

Are you handy? If you can pull out the headunit you'll do it easy yourself.

I have a parrot bluetooth unit that came with my MFD2. I have since replaced it with a RNS510 so if you can find someone to install it for you I have it for sale.

I imagine it will work with the bluescreen headunits but, but as it came from a mfd2 I'm not 100%.

Looks like I'll shop around then see what the stealer quotes.
