This seems a viable alternative to VCDS

VAG CAN PROFESSIONAL (http://www.vag-tech.eu/) 195 euros (A$240) delivered

Site looks a bit bland, but it seems ok. Could someone with a VCDS have a look and see what they think?

love the way they spell LEGAL (*LEAGAL*)

instantly smells of bull****

Much safer option is getting the Ross-Tech model

The hardware is very possibly the same as RossTech (they make no claims to any patent on that, so far as I know.)

What you're paying for with them is mostly the software and the really excellent backup.

The only advantage this cable has over the Ross Tech one is the ability to read and write to the flash memory in the ECU but this is virtually useless to anyone here unless they had a bluefin and wanted backups of their tuned ECUs data at different stages or something.
You can do this with a different $60~$80 cable anyway.
Vagcom able for me at that price for the reasons mentioned above

I asked a UK distributor and this is what they sent. Can anyone see things there that the VCDS doesn't do?

'Please take your time to look at the functions , you will see that this is far superior than Vag Com.

You have many extra functions including the possibility to make software updates and also the possibility to read the ecu flash .

As well as many other features like :

I can see that is good value for some simple pre-loaded tasks but I'd like to know how it goes with things like logging and how many samples a second it can manage. There's not much info about it logging capability anywhere and this is what I use my cable for 95% of the time.
