Nice one Bain! You can change your signature now!
Done and done!
The car is such a head turner! So many gawkers. I was going to 'debadge' it last night - remove the Scirocco badges only to find that the only badges on these cars are the VW and R.
So unless you are car savvy, all you know is its a VW.
Nice - hopefully I can post mine tommorow! ! !
We should go for a cruise together mate double the head turning trouble

Very nice! Maybe would look better with black rims?!
So I got the car tinted yesterday.
Front windows are 35% and the rears are anti glare/anti heat shield/privacy tint. It doesnt really add any extra darkness to the existing window tint, just blocks out people looking in from certain angles.

How does the tint match the std Privacy glass? It is a bit hard to tell in the pictures...
Looks pretty schmick... make sure you take really good before and after shots when you do the springs...
How are you finding the SatNav?

Id say its about a 85% match for the standard privacy glass. With the additional heatshield on the rears its a little darker than the front.
With the springs Im going to create a 'how-to' for anyone interested in doing it themselves. Will be a fairly long process as there is no where on the net that has the torque settings for each of the bolts. Ill try and match the torque settings on my torque wrench first and record 1 side and see if it matches the other.
SatNav is pretty standard and quick to reroute if you miss a turn or dont want to take the turn it suggests. Its also seems accurate to within a meter. Have only used it once though.

I am not fussed on either... mainly due to the tyres always looking dull apart from when you hit them with tyre shine... the black just shows it up much more than silver...
If you are stuck on those 2 choices, Id chose anthracite.

Besides VWRacing UK (intake, suspension bits, engine mounts, wheels, BBK), Forge have a few things available as well (intake, engine bits, twincooler, BBK).
Milltek of course have their usual full choice of exhaust options.
the white wheels are a bit of a throw back to when I had the MK5 R32, and that was my most fav car.... until now...

It's my first sunroof, I like the extra light but a bit disappointed it only opens/tilts an inch.
In regards for looks, it looks great. Since it's half the roof is black and not just a little cut out. But I'm thinking of wrapping the rest of the roof with vinyl (gloss black).
Also I've been getting heaps of thumbs up from the Golf R guys on the road..

Yep... certainly the CW ones need to have the roof wrapped, I think the darker colours such as RB and IG could get away without it.

Hook turns are interesting as well...
Three things Melbourne seems to be known for around the world - bad (really they mean changeable) weather, hook turns and spiders/snakes etc. We have regular visitors from the UK and they start talking about hook turns as though they are some horror the minute they get off the plane.
haha .. yeah hook turns.
I can see how they would be good if you could actually make a turn before the opposite lights go green as it would allow for more people to move through the intersection and also allow people turning left to actually turn left. The current rule set of waiting until the other lights go green is ridiculous.

I have another set with the combo 800 which were originally on my old bora.
When my fiance finally stepped into her first VW she wanted black euros also and many of the combos she wanted were already taken so we decided to find something that would kinda of match mine and 900 was still available.
So when i finally decide which VW to buy for my next project car, the 800's will go on that and they will be matching again!

How soon before your on the road?
Sometime early next week unless I can convince the guys a Nepean Motors to hurry up...lol.
I think we NSW owners should see if we can arrange to get all the colour choices together in one spot for a Photo shoot..

I am guessing that is with CCP.... try and get some before and after shots if you can..
How was your paintwork when you got the car? Swirls etc are more difficult to see on white than on the darker colours but if you are like me and know they are there... well it would bug me
hopefully the guys at CCP don't need to do any remedial work before applying the Nanolex.

Obviously the Vic guys can... but the NSW MyPlates site only shows a small front plate.

Bugger, the personalised plus Euro's only give you the Front as 84X372MM.

That is what I am worried about as well.. I have almost a full bottle of Nanolex (not the professional one) here so I have no issue doing an initial treatment myself... depending on how the paint finish looks.

They wouldn't budge on the drive away price. However, I was happy with the trade in price of my Pirelli ($30K) considering that carsales had a number of them around the $32.5k mark. Meant I did not have to go through the process of selling the vehicle etc.
Could have perhaps got a better deal if I was more patient and waited a while longer but I was keen to upgrade.
BTW, Barloworld weren't too great to deal with. Next time I'll go somewhere else.

Yep... scrape it off and remove the glue residue with eucalyptus oil... I also get rid of Dealers number plate holders... they are cheap and I see no reason to be a moving advertisement for them... even more so if they won't move on pricing...
Is there a good way to remove those stickers?
I simply peeled mine off slowly. Any residual sticky stuff, just use the sticky bit of the sticker side and tap down on the parts that werent removed when peeling it off.
Then use a microfibre cloth make it all shiny again.
(Or you can do as Andy said and use tea tree or eucalyptus oil)

I'm going to add a snap comparison between my Scirocco, TT (2.0TFSI) and my previous Mk6 GTI (both with and without B/F Stg1)
Cabin
Similarity between the TT and Roc is quite strong esp with regards to minor switches. Golf is obviously more spacious in the rear.
Though some reference has been made towards the thick A pilars, I didn't find it to be a problem. The narrow rear window makes see cars to the left and rear a hit and miss affair. You need to make full use of your rear and door mirror to see.
Performance
All three cars sound quite different. The Roc the most purposeful followed by the Golf then the TT.
The Golf has the best low speed torque and therefore driving in traffic is a joy. The Roc is a real slug below 2000 rpm, as a result, following traffic is a concertina affair (a gap builds up and you then play catch up) DSG in drive is not useful here. However any speed above 2500 rpm brings yahoo acceleration and attendant fuel consumption
The TT is somewhere between the two.
Fuel Economy
The TT averages low 8l/100km
The Golf about 7.8
and the Roc most thirsty at 8.8 - 9.1
Ride Comfort
I find the DCC on the Roc rather comfortable (normal mode) as I place a premium on damping control. followed by the GTI and TT trails feeling under damped
hope this helps

Thanks for your comments...
Cabin- I'm still not convinced the R cabin is special enough especially given the wow exterior..
Compromised sight lines are an issue with most coupes you just get used to using your mirrors (and ears) more.
Performance - what you say kind of figures. The Golf does have better torque numbers lower in the rev range so your assessment sounds very fair.
Consumption- presuming the R will imporve economy as things free up (high numbers might also have something to do with driving style at the moment?
Pleased about your thoughts on ride. I think most (all) Audi's are under damped. Don't expect the R to be 'magic carpet' but don't want to have my fillings knocked out either.
Thanks again for your thoughts.
Your ride pics only in this post - there is another thread for reviews

Took some photos along the way....as you do.
Some v nice photos. The Candy stands out well against either the blue or background.
How was the ride heading up and down Mt Dandenong? The Basin Sassafras Road isn't the smoothest around so if you went up that way then that would have been a reasonable test of ride comfort.
I still haven't seen a Roc on the road here. Did lot's of k's around Syney last week and saw nothing there either.

Personally I loved the green at first sight, spectacular on a sunny day and at night. I may have thought about blue but did not want a 2nd blue car in a row. I will say though that the green totally changes colour on a rainy/overcast day and looks much darker and more of a Kermit green. But it is worth it for the sunny days and, having read some other comments, should not be too common.
I heard from a mate there is a RB rocco in my area but I have yet to see it or any others on the road.

The evoque is sure to have a bigger market appeal than the Roc, even more so given we have just the performance model. Pretty limited in appeal really.
Vfacts show sports coupes selling around 13,000 units or so last year. VW sell at least that many Tiguans annually.

I get the appeal of the viper green just not for me.

I really like Viper Green... I just couldn't live with it for the expected 5 years I will have the Scirocco.. plus I was concerned at the potential re-sale of such a stand-out colour... it seems to be one that you either love or hate... no middle ground.
I too have seen several Evoque's about... that would have been my choice of car if the Roc hadn't been available... they are much nicer in the flesh (so to speak) than pictures convey. They are just crazy expensive when you start adding in stuff that you would expect to be standard.. living up to the Range Rover expectation I guess.

Just a little bit OT but according to the new car showroom on the carsales iPhone app you can spec an evoque up to about $130k!!! And I also love the viper green, saw one at the dealer when I just went to have a look (I'm only 17 so no scirocco for me :() they also had an RB and I think that I'd take the green over the blue!!

HAha... at the age of 17 I think most of us would take the Viper Green over the Rising Blue... definitely more pulling power.. :bling:

That's a great Ad. I still chuckle at the dog barking at the RVC popping through the badge.
As for Viper, I couldn't justify spending my own money on it, but if someone else was ponying up for it.. Sure.

The car should drop a few more mm over the next couple hundred km's. In regards to ride quality, it definitely is more firm but not 'sports' mode firm where it jars your brain when going over bumps. Ive been running it in sports mode and ive found there is minimal movement when cornering and going through dips in the road. All in all im happy with it! I think will hold off on the KW DDC's for now as going any lower is not practical for a daily driver and it wont get into our driveway otherwise!

Looks great Bain, but wants the deal when it comes to warranty? Does it void it? I really want to lower my Rocco slightly when it arrives, but main wouldnt risk voiding the warranty.

The dealership has to prove that lowering the car has caused the warranty issue. Lowering the car could effect the following: Anything to do with your suspension (CV joints, wheel bearings, ball joints, shocks etc), drive shaft, diff to name a few things.
A safe bet is to drive the car around for a couple of thousand k's if you are worried about possible warranty issues. Its not fail safe but at least anything to do with suspension should come up before then.

Marti just picked up her new Scirroco R this afternoon to replace her Polo, to say she is stoked is an understatement. We started looking at new cars for her three weeks ago and she quickly decided on the Rocco. Lucky our mate who owns a leasing company was able to find one just arrived in the country in the spec she wanted and she drove it off the lot this afternoon.
I've ordered her a set of VW Racing lowering springs for it from Rennenhaus (Thanks Ian) and we'll look into a tune maybe in a month or two, its on a two year lease so not sure if I want to flash it for her or not.
A couple of pics of her picking the car up and huge thanks to Graeme86 for going with her and checking everything over on the car.
