Hi All,
After getting some petrol on NYE day, 5kms later I heard a spluttering noise and that went away a few seconds later. When I stopped to pick up my friend, the engine stopped. I tried to start the engine but it would not start. I tried a few times to start it, when it wouldn't start, I called NRMA. The guys tested the petrol pump and the system and he said it sounded like there is a problem with the ignition system. So, I ended it up getting it towed home and now it is parked in the back yard waiting my mechanic to come back from his holiday. In the mean time I have ordered OBDII Scanner to see if I can check to see the problem.
Would it be O2 sensor problem?
Thanks heaps in advance for your thoughts, suggestions and help.

Did the car display an engine check warning light?
The scanner will most likely tell you what the problem is, but it sounds like a fuelling issue to me.
Perhaps a blocked filter, or a broken low or high pressure fuel pump.
I wouldn't think an O2 sensor would do this.

o2 sensor shouldnt bring down the whole car, would put it into limp mode, but that is still driveable no worries

It could be anything to do with ignition, or fuel system, maybe spark plugs, coil packs or even injections.

I will wait for my scanner to arrive and let you all know the result.
Thanks to all.

1- Scanner did not pick anything (I am not sure if it works OK or I used it correctly. Can it pick up faults when you just turn the ignition on. How does it usually works?)
2- Removed the spark plugs; they were black as bought new ones and installed. But one thing I noticed spark plugs were very wet. I think they were flooded with petrol.
3- Checked the pressure of the pump it seemed to me it was little fast.
4- Checked the spark plugs if they were firing. They fire OK
It is still not starting. I am thinking to check the spark plug firing in the dark tonight...
Questions;
Is there a fuel sensor somewhere???
Would it be from main ignition coil ??
What color is the 98 octane patrol??

Maybe a chance of dodgy fuel perhaps.

aha!!!!!!!!
Found the problem. It is stressful and funny but what can we do these things can happen...
I landed my car to my dad the night before NYE. He goes to patrol station on the way back from his trip to buy $20 worth patrol. After all this time me playing around and getting some patrol sample out of my car. He quietly goes back to the patrol station last night to double check the pump and he realizes that he filled up with diesel. Because he did not have his glasses and could not read the signage properly!!!
..and noow I have to worry about emptying the tank
Thanks to all for your comments!
