View Full Version : The Sunroof extending "trick" - for Yeti and Superb

The car manual does not tell you this, but thankfully someone showed me this "trick". If you twist the sunroof's rotary dail clockwise all the way the sunroof fully opens automatically - without you having to hold it there - you just twist and let go and the roof will open all the way. Yet this is NOT the absolute maximum fully open position. If you then push and hold the dail in this position it completely opens by moving back a good 120mm more!

This is the normal open position:

And this is the furthest position (note the bolts for the roofrack to get a relative idea of distance):

And from inside:

You can have it set to always open this way via a VCDS laptop. BUT it does make a bit more of a bufetting noise when you gather speed and is open this far. So the normal position is better to stop this from happening. I only ever open it this extra bit if there are people in the back wanting to see out and I'm not going too fast.

This applies to all VAG sunroofs as far as I am aware. I always open it fully and hardly ever see any buffeting.

Nice and big opening. Awesome :cookie: My daughter would love it if our cars had a sunroof as big as that.

We had an aftermarket Hollandia 700 series fitted to our Mazda 323 Sports edition by Prestige in Burwood, it was twice the size of the one in our RS...we miss it at times!
