Hi all,
I haven't posted for a long time, I've been enjoying my Polo GTI for the past 2 years with APR stage 1, it will be paid for soon so I am interested in changing to a bigger car and the Jetta caught my eye second hand. I am little confused on which engine to go for, I don't want diesel, so it would be the 2.0L tubo or the 1.4 twin charge. I will be APR-ing it as well. I see there are models from 2006-2008 in the older shape (not the current one that is out now) I think I will go automatic this time round as well, but I believe the 1.4L was avaialble in manual too? Any advice would be fantastic.
can't beat cubic inches.
Go the 2.0l turbo with compulsory dsg

Yeah, easy choice mate. The 2.0 turbo. My missus and I love ours.

It seems the 2.0L is the most popular, even when I ask APR! So that helps with the engine choice, I'm sure the 1.4 is nice as well, but I always here fantastic feedback on the 2.0L. Can anyone help on what the differences are from:
MY06 to MY10 in this configuration (2.0L only, not 1.4L)? Did anything major change in each year? I've searched the net but there isn't much stating upgrades etc.
Thank you again if anyone can help!

I can't personally comment on the engines as I don't own one but people who drive the 2.0 DSG as company cars think they go really well.
Here is an article I just googled on the 1.4 lt DSG.
Volkswagen Jetta 118 TSI (http://news.drive.com.au/drive/new-car-comparison-child/volkswagen-jetta-118-tsi-20100619-14p19.html)
Here's a write up on the 2010 range which goes through all the engine models with fuel and performance specs. It raves about the 1.4 lt engine.

I had a mate with a similar problem a while back. His Polo GTI was getting too small for him (happens when you spend $x000 on an engagement ring), and wanted something bigger. He drove my Jetta and loved it and was consdering it until he drove a Mazda MPS.
At the end of the day, it depends on what you want and if you're thinking of APR-ing it, I reckon the 118TSI would end up being as good as the 147TSI/2.0Turbo.
Either way, you can't really go wrong.

Currently have the 2.0 TFSI with stage 2 and highly recomend it. Amazing power and drive. And doesnt cost a lot to get chipped.
