hay all, anyone have a clue what this problem is.

06 tdi dsg jetta

i was driving on the highway at 100kmh, cruise control on, and i sore a real quick light go on and off on my dash just before it dropped out of gear and reved up to 5k rpm. i put it into neutral and back into gear but it wouldn't select a gear, dash was flashing.

pulled over into shoulder, disconnected battery, still problem was there.

but then i put it into manual selector, and it worked, drove off. and then put back into auto and now works fine.

but has an engine warning light on still.

was it just the computer going ape ****, or could it be a problem?

iv rang my mechanic, and i can see him monday, but just want to ease my mind

Can't ease your mind, you really want to have it scanned for faults. Disconnecting the battery doesn't make them go away, the computer latches the fault usually.
Some will disappear if they don't re-occur in 10-15 starts.

My Golf's transmission died tonight, just left work, about a kilometer and lost drive, a kindly gentleman helped me push my cat to the side of the road and even offered me a lift.

I tried putting the car into neutral and back into drive, no luck, but when shifting into park I heard a grinding noise, not good I think.

I got the car towed back home, I didn't want it left somewhere Ii may get vandalised.

Still under statutory warranty luckily.

I don't think my Golf has a DSG transmission though, although I don't know what type of gearbox I do have.
