Just bought 1985 Golf MK1 GTI LHD Cabriolet, and its as standard as the day it was bought, Im looking at getting some Rims and springs and mayb a few body trims (front upper grill spoiler and some interior) where would be the best place to start looking ebay over here is rubbish and gumtree have nothing! is there a secret group i dont know about that can help?

no, theres just not many parts around.

Matt at camdent gti may have some bits as far as body trim parts go. otherwise overseas shopping is your best bet (there are other people locally I'm sure I just cant think of any).

As for wheels and springs, well you need only search around the forums a bit and you'll answer your own questions.

My question is this - if you have a completely stock as the day it was bought '85 cabrio, why change it at all? It's probably worth more right now if its in good condition that after you modify it. I guess if its pretty run down then you might aswell have your way with it, as i did with mine.

Wheel, just keep eye open for forum member selling any 4x100, you have to be in patience though.
Spring/suspension, my best advice would be avoid cheap coilover, either a good cup kit or Weitec GTN is the best choice IMO
Just post in WTB section for any body parts that you want, I'm sure many people are willing to help.

cheers for that! She is in pretty much perfect condition body wise, I did only buy her yesterday tho so im sure a closer poke around will uncover more! And as for pics i will as soon as she has her new clutch, fly wheel, oils seal sorted back and is on my driveway!

easy way is to host pictures on some 3rd party website like photobucket or the google one (picasa??) and they will give you a link to post the pic.
