Beetle (new), Bora, Corrado VR6, Golf Mk 3 GTi & VR6, Golf Mk 4, Passat VR6, Vento VR6 5 x 100 32...38 57.0

So can someone explain to me how this all works

5x100 (5 being the studs, 100 being their alignment/space or something?)

And what's the 32...38 57.0 all about?

Cheers!

100 is the PCD, pitch circle diameter. if you draw a circle through all the stud holes the diameter is 100mm.

The ET is the offset and the initials are German and I cant remember what they stand for.

Do a google for offset to get an explanation. Generally the lower the offset in mm the further the wheel sticks out in the arches.

And the 57.0 is the size of the centrebore, or basically the hub on which the wheels sits on. Larger centrebore wheels can fit on smaller centrebore cars with the aid of shims (without them is still possible) but you can't perform the opposite.

Is the link working for anyone else? It seems to redirect me to a Wikipedia article?
