Another strange DSG clunk thread MKV R32

I noticed a audible "clunk" when the DSG shifted into 6th gear. I was going slow, probably ´round 50km/h. No hard acceleration. Strange thing is that this noise only occurs from 5th to 6th gear only.
Interesting thing is that the noise doesnt occur when accelerating, only when crusing and dsg automatically changes from 5th to 6th at low speed/rev range

Would you consider this part of standard DSG operation "noise" or would it be something for the dealer to look at?

Anyone else experiencing the same issue. Ive searched around on other forums and it does appear to happen with others as well but no exact solution to this fault. A member on R32OC got his mechatronic and gearbox changed under warranty and the thud was still there from 5th to 6th gear at low speed range

The only answer i found (however no update if the software update fixes the fault):

"dropped the car to the agent and after a week of investigation with Germany
thy agent said its normal Because i decided to upgrade the flywheel to fix the gear rattling Issue (More Info ) , u will only hear the noise if you go into 6th in the speed range of 40-60 km, and Germany is working on a software upgrade

in short , R32's which Wr Produced in Jan 2008 will have the "Thud Noise" bcoz Vw Germany Upgraded the Flywheel for the 2008 batch,

and R32's with a certain batch of Chassis number Will not have the "thud" nstd thy will have the Gear Rattling Problem unless the owner decided to fix the Gear Rattling issue"

I have the exact same problem. My Mechatronics unit ws replaced and now it also happens from 3rd to 2nd. I've had the car back at the dealer and VWA responded with some excuse involving the haldex controller and that it's normal. My current thought is that I've brought the issue to their attention and if anything goes wrong in future as a direct result I will just produce all of my paperwork and make them pay. My feeling is that its a faulty / lazy clutch. It doesn't seem to affect the car at all and there is a way to feather the throttle and reduce or stop it.

If you want any more info, let me know, but I'm not sure how helpful I can be.

Sounds like you have the exact same issue and yes by changing your driving style (as you mentioned feathering the throttle) you can get the gears to change smoothly. Very strange fault though, ive been researching a fair bit and no forum seems to have an answer for the problem. It is au very annoying sound and hopefully its does no further damage.

Your thoughts are a lazy clutch, i tend to agree as well. Seems like something to do with the clutch engaging and disengaging or flywheel related(just a guess). Sounds very much like a bad manual driver dropping the clutch making the sudden thud noise

I bought my car in November last year with 50,000km on it, but being that you never really test drive a car long enough to get it up to temperature (Mine only does it once warm, never when cold) I never noticed. Once I realised that it wasn't normal I made a statutory warranty claim with my dealer and they pursued it with VWA who replaced the Mechatronics unit and provided the response I mentioned above.

My thoughts on the lazy clutch are based on the fact that the gears it happens between seem to be related to the same clutch's operation, not one of each. Over the Christmas break this year I'm thinking I might video tape it and send it to my dealer and VWA, depending on the response I might splash it all over the Internet too, it won't gain much ground but I will feel better.
