I may come, if there is more than 2 cars...

and WABIT, calm down...

burnouts = bad rep in the car community

and how much driving experience do you have???

because there is no way i am going to drive anywhere near you if you exceed the speed limit...

sorry dude, can't risk my car, too much $$$

excessive speed and no experience by yourself = CRASH!!

WABIT
08-03-2006, 09:06 AM
lol man, have u heard of msc performance in reservoir?? they are at the drags alot e.t 9.71, dont worry i have driven those cars twice as hard plus they owe the owners over $50,000 on the engine alone, and not once i have ever even come close to any mishap on the road, but feel as you will, i wont go near your car, and dont worry i dont speed mate, whats the point of a cruise if everyone speeds off???? doesnt make scence??

i built this engine, 355 stroked, with group A SS throttlebodies (290 rw kw) et 10.2 i can handle this, hows a 150kw golf gonna be diffrent??

Oh yeah...

You may have convinced me...

I am just very concerned for new solo drivers putting them and their cars at risk. Driving a car is dangerous stuff, and mention things like "understeer" to most people, and they say, "oh yeah, we were drifting this alfa". Yeah, right... Unless they were going fast and lifted off quickly, it ain't going to happen.

I only got my P's 2.5years ago, and I have been very lucky...
No accidents, and only had to replace a lower control arm, and some bushes when the gutter got in the way of my understeering car. LOL.

I will come along, and maybe with new suspension by then, that or a rear sway bar added. And maybe wheel spacers at the back if i get my guards rolled...

Altho seriously. Burnouts on a cruise isnt cool. U dont wanna attract too much attention from the plod.

WABIT
10-03-2006, 11:53 AM
y arnet people WILD these days man.. some stories my dad tells me!! and no hes not old azz hes 38.. but still he used to own a hq monaro with a 454ci bigblock chev, stroked to a 500.. reached low 10's and he used to fry em up on his cruises with all his mates, why dont people to that these days... im here on this planet to have a good time you only live ones so just go crazy about it i say... (with resonable limitations)

the roads aint what they used to be.
There are cops out in force these days.

Take the yarra boulevard as an example. 50km/h zone with cops patrolling thru there all day and night and setting up speed traps.

Im sure we are all partial to havin a bit of fun now and then. But there is a time and a place to play!

if u wanna do big burnouts come up to DECA one day with one of the clubs. u can fry as many tyres as u like on the skidpan.

WABIT
10-03-2006, 10:54 PM
u coming on the cruise tim??

hopefully my car is on the road then. Always good to meet new VW enthusiasts

Dude,
the one reason you don't fry your tyres is because now with the hoon laws, if you get caught the first time they take your car for 48hours, second time its a month, and third time, you'll never see your car again...
simple as that.

but i will still come for the drive.

LAG is related to me putting the foot down and the car spluttering and not going anywhere sometimes...

I spew out a knock sensor code the other week...

so maybe it's in "safe mode"...

But as soon as she hits 3,500rpm she goes again...

ok lets see what happend....

got there from 7 to 8pm at albert park... ferrari almost hits a speedbump at 60kph.... then drops a burnout and fries his $1,500 each rear tires :D

then we take off to yarra blvd.. its starts raining... boy did we have fun!!, like i said, NICE 2ND GEAR!! LOVED THE 50+MTR BURNOUT!! HAHHA yeah u know who you are!! :P :P  we get to the entrance of he blvd i jumped in ausgofers MINT!! mk2 gti *drewl* and we get booze bussed so that was exiting.. after that we turned onto the blvd and went through... not goin to hard because it was wet.. we had the gun metal/silver mk1 gti behind us.. atfer that we met up with the rest of the fellas at the lookout point on a semi-hairpin? and kicked back for abit admiring eachothers babies  ... THEN!!!... out of nowere this id say VY VZ? ss commo put his foot down and nicely drift into a gutter crushing his front bar and rims about 20mtrs away from our cars... that was??.... hmm dunno what you call that but yeah we had a laugh  after a few more cars passing that corner a little bit too fast for wet roads.. we went to a servo stayed there for 20min then everyone booted off home :D TWAZ AN INTERESTING NIGHT... i enjoyed close detail of the boys cars and meeting them in person cool bunch of guys... any thing i missed???

Good fun at buy all.
I'll list the cars that were there so that people who didn't attend know what to expect.

2 Mk1 Golfs, Tims GLD congerted to 1.8 K-ket and 5spd with mods(silver), and Pauls immaculate Gti Campain(metallic blue).

1 Mk2 Golf Gti no guesses who's that was.

2 Mk3 Golfs, Carlsons(not sure on spelling) nice blue (I think it was a 2L manual), as well as Shauns nice white(great color) 2L manual looking and sounding mean.

1 Mk4 Daniels nice neat standard 2L manual looking good as mk4's do in black.

1 Seat Ibiza Cupra Gti, Daves ABF powered car as always looking very tidy also in white.

And Dom and a mate of his coming along for the ride.

Good time had buy all. Turmed out a lot better than I expected, the booze bus and SS comodore added to the excitement :P  . Next one should be good. Shame we didn't get any pictures though.

Nice work Guys. Wish I had been there. A Mk2 2 door and a Campaign together in Oz, now that I`d like to see.

Campaign
30-04-2006, 09:20 PM
It was good to meet you guys last night. Sorry couldn't join you on the boulevard - had a movie to go to.

Campaign is Helios Blue, Carl - though not so immaculate after a run to Ballarat on the backroads - try mud covered! Well the sides and rear are covered in mud; bonnet and roof clean.
There's a great hill at Rowsley - does anyone know it? Came roaring up in third - confronted by a hairpin - turned the wheel, backed off the throttle slightly, and around the corner she went - so steerable; amazing. :D

Anyway that was the fun. Drove back on the boring freeway through all the rain. Now have to clean it.

We should make a Golf presence at the club meets.

It was a great turnout considering the conditions...

Next time i think we should go for a "spirited" drive through the hills during the day. I have a few roads that i've been along before and in fwd's they are quite fun!

Otherwise, i think that i need a 16v after hearing the mk2 and cupra...mmm!!

Should get some texer's on board too!

Thanks guys!

G'day all,

It was nice to meet all of you & putting faces to names. Great bunch of blokes.
The conditions weren't that flash hot but I had a good time anyway & the SS was a bit of a highlight as well as the Ferrari, damn those engines sound horn, and the company of other Golf nuts and there nice rides.

I'll say it was pretty hard to keep up with the seater & ausgolfer on the way home. I don't think it was too much of a lack of power, as my Mk1 needs new tyres (you know what I mean wabit!)as it was scating, sliding and torque steering all over the place, especially on Yara Bvd following ausgolfer & coming onto the Eastern torque steering in third changing lanes (with the indicator on of course!)
A couple of weeks earlier I'd fitted & tuned my new parts from the states.
Autotech 270 cam, Sport tuned valve springs, cam & intermediate pulley's so it was nice to put them to good use.
I'll say there is smoother & more power!
