that swallowtail (with the 2E) was originally owned and built by Valver I believe. Then owned by another forum member in QLD before being shipped down south. That thing has gone downhill fast, look at all that rust! :( Used to be a clean shell

That mk2 looks great! K-Jet motor too, would go pretty hard!

Rust = lighter, thus faster :P
2L 8V's can be a wee bit dopey on digi though.

Sarcasm or?? LOL

I just want that half cage hehe, looks cool. But all seriousness, would it be worth buying just for the 2E and running gear?

I think that Cam used to own the White Mk1 with the half cage. It definitely looks like it's worth saving, someone give it a new home :)

If it had 4 doors it would be faster :P

Well worth it for engine ect,
Get it running in the white car first, then swap the gear into your orange one, swap orange gear into white, sell. easy.

Aint no GTI engine in it, GTI engine code will be EG------. You can see the mechanical fuel pump + no oil cooler housing on the front of the block..

DX will be a 1.8 , All GTI's were 1.6 up til end of 82 model year IIRC engine code EG, 1600 CC 81 kW. So is yours factory genuine or a clone ;)

the GTI in Qld (Esk) is not a GTI.
Its a bitsa.
It has a fuel injected engine from a passat (JN) but running 4 motorcycle carbies.
5 speed close ratio (FM)
Best body I have seen since I last had one.
NO Rust.
Lots of new/different panels.
Colour include white, black, duck egg blue and martini olive.
Well worth the buy it now price.
But my bose said NO toys til our daughter finishes Uni (2013) :(

Well spotted!! Man, it's certainly gone to the pack since I last saw it, though. It was actually my brother that used to own it and he had the 2E fitted by Andrew Robinson.

Before the 2E, it had a 9A 16v, but this never ran, as the motor was an imported dud with no compression. This was pulled out and fitted to Andrew's competition car if memory serves me well.

The Mk1 left Tassie with a guy called Cameron Krt, but I think he had a lot of trouble with it - I lost track of it after that... Until now anyway! :)

In other news, that other Mk1 is certainly not a GTI. I'm sick of chumps trying to flog off their Mk1s as GTIs and rip people off!!

Im glad to announce, the history now continues with myself. I have plans of stripping it down, and properly fully restoring the body.
