Got to hand it to Joe at Golfwagen. I was having a hell of alot of trouble getting my mk2 registered in WA untill dubstar put me onto this place. It's in Wangara Perth if your in the West. It's not to far if you take the freeway from the city, it will be well worth your while.

Such excellent customer service! Once I broke down after 5 o'clock but it dident stop Joe from meeting me on the side of the road (turned around when he was half way home) and giving me a tow back to the shop. I just never though I would have a mechanic do that for me!

Just spent a fews $$$ and then some at Golfwagen ....and travelled from SOR to do it. Phase 1 was to get it over the pits and he pretty well had an open cheque book to do it. Phase 2 will almost be done by Joe too, but maybe not the open cheque book this time.... for my safety not his.

do they look after later models as well, do they use VAGCOM at all? wouldn't mind paying them a visit

Bump to this thread, just got my green german violence serviced at golfwagen. Great place, joe is a super dude and all is well with my dub :)

Yes nic, they use vag com and there was a late model audi on the hoist so modern cars are go.

hey mattyt, do they do colour coding too? i'm keen to get mine sorted... but because there's only a handful of WA drivers here, it seems like we don't have much combined experience with repairers and the like! :) (apart from dealerships...)

I'll have to go see Joe again at some point to get my car scanned. He replaced my CV boots, excellent price and service.
en13, i don't think Joe does painting of any kind, i think its mechanics only.

His workshop is a bit small to do any kind of paint work, methinks.

I hear that BBK Automotive is a very good paintshop. So are Lombarbi Bros.

I have a personal friend who can do paint coding if given your VIN. What do you need painted?

hey mattyt, is BBK Automotive or Lombarbi Bros familiar with VW? any idea on what they've done before? one other Perth driver here.. i think it's ortegsport or something, colour coded his car with a VW dealer and it was a pretty bad experience so i'll definitely not be heading down that road anytime soon but i'd love to know more about BBK automotive or Lombarbi Bros if you have any more info on them..

runamuk, i'd like to get my sides colour coded and my rear bumper too... does your friend have any experience? i want it sanded too so it's smooth like the rest of the car... but i'd like to know what his experience is first and whether he has any photos of jobs he's completed before...

my car was in a prang and it needed new bumpers. I went to Stefan's panel and paint, he did an outstanding job, im really happy. He did my friend's BMW and another friend's WRX. If you want, i'll get you the details

My panel beater who paints my porsche and race car golf does and awesome job and he always uses Glasurit paint (the best) at a good price and superb quality. He only deals with a very small client bases, mainly porsches and race cars but he also does other woork like motor bikes and golfs, give me a yell if you want his number

That is great there is a good independent VW guy in Perth. I really did not want to take a car to a dealer. Based on previous experiences with other car brands

Subaru
ford

have been total rip off's. I then found an awesome EX dealer mechanic who went into business himself and made a killing.

so will definitely be taking my new golf up to this guy for the once over.

joes always been great, everytime ive gone up to see him hes gone above and beyond for me- right through the #88 'incident' he tried his best to get it back to me, and with getting the new rotors+pads on my new r he was quick, professional and even let me borrow the work ute for the day!

i recomend golfwagen to all my mates-- and theyve never dissapointed!

Welcome to the forum woobla! Depending on your location, you could also try Quattro Motors in Burswood. They are ex-Audi dealer, run a quick search for feedback about them in other threads.

I would happily go to Joe as well except for the distance as I am SOR.

Must say Kudo's to Joe and Wade for doing a awesome job on my MK4. They did a full service with timing belt etc. The car feels much more responsive than before. Any future issues with any of my cars they are the only guys i'll call. Thanks again guys.:google:

Just picked up my car from Golfwagen for it's 30K sevice and I have to say they were brilliant. They quoted me much cheaper than the dealers and when I picked it up, the price was even less due to not needing and air filter replacement (I have a K&N)

All up, $210 cheaper than the quoted dealership price and they even washed it, cleaned the rims and blackened the tyres!!!

They also picked up on my rear tyres, originally rotated from the front last service and they have worn down to the warning blocks after 2 years and 26K, I'm not impressed as the Conti's are meant to have a 70K service life I believe. I will be firing off an email to Volkswagen to ask for an explanation as that is unacceptable in my view.

Apart from that, I have to say that Golfwagen has my businees from now on, thanks guys.

Any good recommendation for the south of the river in WA? beside Burswood Quattro..

How about V-Dub and Karmann? ( in term of the quality of the service and price?)

Just owned my Golf MkV, but living in the south..Wangara seems quite far from me and i am working during office hours. Quite hard for me to service my car there...

Had my car at Golfwagen today, Joe's a top guy and really has some passion for VW's which is important to me.
Even fixed a stuffed engine loom cable that VW Osborne park let wear away on the accessory belt, and cleaned the car.

Definitely going back!

The address is 22/9 Inspiration Drive, Wangara. PH: 9303 4999.
I can plug now because I don't work there anymore haha! He also buys all the good OE brands from me at my new job at HSY autoparts, so I know he doesn't use cheap & nasty parts.

There is a website that I designed too. Golfwagen (http://www.golfwagen.com.au)

I posted this somewhere else on this forum it felt it needed repeating- joe replaced my oil filter with an aftermarket one, threw away some part that's OEM and now my new mechanic can't replace the filter without ordering that part in. not particularly impressed as this means I have to order the new part in- joe really should pay for it... and come back to get my filter done again. in the meantime, my mech is trying to put something in that will tide me through for a few days given I still have to use my car for Easter weekend.

very unimpressed. it's just a filter change and I should be told if aftermarket parts are being used- and for the price he charges, I'm really surprised. sorry guys, I'm sure there are other mechanics out there who will do better. my current guy is great, will not return to joe. rather get ripped off by dealers.

That sounds awfully unlike Joe. He does have two newer staff on board though...

Have to spoken to Joe directly about this?

I also wonder why your new mechanic cant use exactly what joe used?

if the OEM part is no longer needed why must your new mechanic revert to OEM?

I'm thinking that this forum has been the first port of call. Agreed .... not like Joe.

I'm thinking that this forum has been the first port of call. Agreed .... not like Joe.

i thought it was very unfortunate too, and yes this forum has been the 'first port of call' because my mech said joe won't do anything about it- it's not like he's going to buy me back the OEM part he threw away...

i'm just putting my experience out there- i know zilch about cars. if anyone's gonna replace anything in car with after market stuff after charging me $446 for a service (50,000kms)- and all that was changed was oil & air filter, washer and windscreen washer additive.... i don't think it's worth my money.

MattyT: i went to joe's 19/4/11.

gareth_oau: he didn't know it wasn't OEM. he had an OEM filter ready to go and was completely thrown off when he realized that joe had improvised and created something completely different under my hood. my mech ended up replacing it with an after market filter because we have to order the missing part in and i can't drive without a filter in my car. what usually would have taken minutes took hours.

i'm sure all your experiences with Joe have been great- like i said, it's just my experience.

if there are other noobs out there who want a very reasonably priced mechanic who works with lamborghinis, ferraris and the like, you're welcome to PM me.

Since you posted twice - I'll say it again - you haven't given Golfwagen the right of reply before posting - in my book that's not on. Sure they might have argued with you about the merits of OEM & aftermarket - I know when I have had work done, I have asked for OEM items to be used which they have complied with.

FJ Steve

if there are other noobs out there who want a very reasonably priced mechanic who works with lamborghinis, ferraris and the like, you're welcome to PM me.so....it's worth commenting in 2 threads about the same 'issue', yet you won't give Joe a right of reply, or at the very least, ask him why he did something a particular way, and yet, you recommend us to use a 'mechanic' who you won't name publicly.

Sorry, I don't buy that.

en13
09-04-2012, 02:09 AM
sorry- i didn't want to name my mechanic can't i didn't want anyone to think i was 'pushing' for him.
it's Fabcar in Cannington. ask for Andre.

i assumed that if after market products are used i would be told about it- that's what andre does with me anyway. everything he has put in my 2 golfs have been OEM.

Bit of a thread revival but does any one know if Golfwagen is still kicking around? I just tried to call the number that's listed from google and had a completely different place pick up. The guy on the other end said that they have moved or shut down. He said there is a Nangara Volkswagen kicking around that he thinks might be the same people? Plz halp!
