View Full Version : 19" rims on jetta
Hi everyone,
First time on this forum. In the market to buy a 07 jetta 2.0TFSI and want to put 19" rims on it. Has any one done it?? Any problems? Did you have to lower the car further than the factory 15mm??

They look great mate. The one on the Caractere Mk5 looks sweet. Any ideas of what exact wheel you're going to consider?
Edit: Oh and welcome!!!
The ones on the Caractere are the best but i think they are least 20's... Was just checking the net from rims in Brissie but with no avail. Once i order the car (black of course) with black tinited windows and any rim that look stylish not those cheap n nasty chrome rims...i took one for a strap from the dealer with the options body kit and 18's and it looks to me that you could easily fit 20's but it comes down to ride and also the overall diameter ruling. It just has to look good standing still. Also wanting to do the apr air induction mod as well...the missus won't even know.
I Have even been thinking of getting some RS4 19"'s...copy ones of course, but i can only seem to find the at tempe???? Maybe i should order the car first..hehe
Saw these photos from jetta in usa and belgium on jettamkv forum..ordering the car tomorrow...going to make mine look similar to the black shown.757

19's look good on the Mk5. It's like the 18's on Mk4s and 17's on Mk3s - big, but not over-done.
I've ordered the car last week, and should have it in 2 weeks....don't ask how come i got it so quick, it was a flook , i've shopped around for rims already and found a set i want but i'll have to wait until they are put on to determine how low to dump it on H & R springs.

Do you have any piccies of the rims?
I was thinking of these, but they will have pretty much no dish in 19" X 8.815
Or these

Prefer the bottom rim.

I'm loving your choices mate, I was originally looking at the replica RS4 rims for my MKV Golf GTI but I have decided on the BBS CH wheels in 18" (I think 19" on aussie roads will be a little rough considering the amount of driving I do.
Good luck with it, I can't wait to see pics!!:D
Maybe even these... I've seen these on a charcoal jetta on jeetamkv.com forum...nice

do you have any other shots? side profile perhaps? :D
It's on standard Jetta Turbo suspension which is 15mm lower than other jettas. This photo doesn't do it any real justice...I'll take some new photo's with a real camera once i wash it and stops raining.... i'm getting some minor scrubbing issues alredy so i wouldn't want to lower it...I think it was cuz the offset is 45 and the rims are 8.5" wide... They tuck under only just but i haven't had 4 people in it yet and hit a bump. It scrubed on the back after i hit a launch pad in front of the ICB and landed...

what size tyres on there?

Here it is....845
What tyres you got on the Jetta and do you have any rubbing issues?
Im looking at doing the same.
The tyres are 235/35 R19.... I think its cuz of the 45 offset and 8.5" rim...You can't fit an 8.5 rim on a 50 offset as it will hit the fuel tank pipe on the right hand side. So best bet is an 8 inch rim on a 50 offset...at lest the entire rim will go under the guard...its not that it rubs all the time it has only happend once in 3 weeks..

19/40/225 might have fit better but they look great and the car doesn't look like a 4WD with the suspension and wheel combo!
Can't wait to see more pics

hows the ride quality going on the springs and shocks?
does it still stick to the ground on ESP with the 19s?
the 17s give it a nice smooth ride. just want to know before i go ahead if the ride quality is compromised.
your complaints on switching?.....
should i go 225/35 or go 235/35?
Well the ride is more firmer with the 19's you expect a little bit more of a firmer ride....I still findn it smooth especially coming from my last car. I think it will depend if you haven't driven a car with lowered suspension and big rims as you might find it a tad rough.
In regards to the springs and shocks there is one facotry mod you must do. I only found out last week whilst fixing an issue with the car last week there is an options for a suspension limiter. Apparently this gets fitted as standard when you order 18's. This limits the travel of the rims so the don't "bottom out" the part fitted is only $46..I'm getting this fitted hopefully this week and i'll let you know if this affects the daily ride.
In regards to getting 235 or 225, your better off i think going 235 as this gives you a tiny bit more of wall height and a better ride.

cool.
please let me know what the suspension limiter is and how you go.
i might actually call the dealer as well and ask them as well.
i know with GTI's they put something on the fenders or suspension for 18 inch rims.

WHAT ALL ROUNDER TYRE CAN YOU GET FOR $200-$250 ON 19s
235/35/R19
My Falkens were $300 each..but I was told that my other option was Yokohama's for $250 each...I heard today the Dunlop Sport are a good tyre and are similar to the continental sport 2 which come stocko on the jetta, but these may be more expensive...your best bet is if you buy the rims and tyres from the same place see what they can do, and if you can do it offer them cash :)

did you get the spare rim as 19s?
hopefully it fits in the boot. esp with 235/35
i think im gonna go for the kumho ku31s. i found them at Tempe Tyres in NSW for 220 each. which is pretty good cause theyre like 350+ in Melb.
Nah didn't get the 19 spare...wasn't worth it...the stock spare is full size so thats ok

Hey 7164
Have you considered lowering your Jetta with Eibach Pro kit? or any other springs for that matter? or have you asked about it or found out any info ? and Do you Rub on the 19s?
Looking at putting 19s i have but still undecided on tyre sizes.
225 with Eibach Prokit springs on stock suspension
or 235 with Eibach Prokit springs.
the 19s you have on look great and thats what mine will look like, but to spend big $$ on the tyres and then buy springs to lower, will it rub?
After the the suspension traveller was put in it doesn't rub much at all. I was a bit scared to have 4 people in the car and it didn't scrub once, but you just have to watch your speed and humps, as the "landing" tends to rub a little.
My offset (45) is the cause of my rubbing, but i think the 235's give it a better ride.
I nearly had the suspension kit on order before i got the rims, glad i didn't though. it was only a 20mm drop.....it would off looked awesome.

suspension traveller?
Did you get bump stops on the suspension?
$46 bucks or so. Gotta get them in for the 15k service!

i love the subtlety of them. i'm thinking of a bora with aristo (mk4 r32 wheels) or similar to yours. i'm inspired to get a mk4 version happening. =P
what car did you have before if you're saying 19s are supple?
I had a N15 Pulsar SSS on 17's, and was lowered 50mm, but over time it settled even. That ride was harsh compared to the 19's...

i love those 19s on that Jetta! Cant wait to do mine.
How is the steering around bends and corners? and are the brakes holding them up?
back in 02 I had 18s on my accord and the wheel bolts would snap when you turned sharply and the brakes used to struggle to stop them in time.
the brakes are fine, actually had to do an emergency brake the other week and i was more than impressed..
Cornering is fine, hard acceleration through tight corners still makes the TC light flicker but it seems to do it a bit more sicne i had it chipped.
