Hi all,

Quick question...

Does the cruise control icon illuminate on your dash board when activated as in the following picture?

Mine doesn't, should it?
Or is EU / US markets only?

Any help, advice...

Mine lights up just like the pic. I think I also remember the booklet saying that it lights up.

Is your car a GTI, if so what year model is it?

I might have to go to VW and get the bulb fixed then...

I have just found the following in my owners manual...

" 2 - Cruise Control System*
The warning lamp comes on when the Cruise Control System is switched on. This lamp is not to be found in all model versions."

Maybe that answers my question...

Its Part of the ECU software, we can actually switch it on or off as the customer likes with the APR Remap.

If your car did have it & now it doesn't then you just need to switch software (Assuming you are chipped)

As I do not have a remap of any kind, is this still some thing that you can do. i.e make the light come on as required?

hey Glenn, Good to speak to you - on second thoughts the code could be modified in the stock ECU but it would be a time consuming thing.

Not sure when the cut over date is when VW switched it on but its just a slight software revision!

Guy, I would be interested in seeing if this is something that could be done...
I spoke with VW this morning also and they advised that the display is via an LED not a bulb. So if the LED is not actually in the dash cluster it will not be able to be activated.
But I am happy to see if we can get it working...

Guy - Do you know if it is a similar proposition for the a3s? Is the light actually in the dash?

Is set the button at the end of the stalk?

The light can be switched on - with the ECU software - but only with a new chip from APR. We don't have the skills to hack the standard ECU code & it wouldnt be worth the time & effort.

It is an LED, activated by the software.

Lams has an 01' GTI that has had the light enabled with the later version APR software.

Have not come across it on the A3 before, but I'm sure its possible similar year for year.

Do you need to be doing a particular speed before the cruise control works?

Set and Resume are at the end of the stalk.
I think you have to do 50km or higher?

Hmmm - I thinks it don't work.

I might go back up to the dealer this weekend to get a few bits sorted out.

I doubt it, I'm pretty sure I've enabled cruise control at ~20km/h or even lower.
