Hi Guys,
Would like a big favor from the guys who have the new jetta!, If you can tell me the type of bulbs used for:
Front lights & how many:
DRL & how many:
Rear lights & how many:

Would like to swap out the bulbs since there is no xenon in the new model.

many thanks!

I was quite disappointed when I found out that the new Jetta did not have the xenon options. I'm sure other countries have that option because in the 147TSI, it's got headlamp washers (which is only really needed for Xenon lights).

Some members have got their Jetta already so hopefully they can chime on this. I'm interested as well!

yeah tell me about it, going from the 2009 jetta with xenon , standard headlights are 'dim' and yellow.

Was that an optional add on to your 2009 Jetta? Which model did you have?

Just looking at the Owner's manual:
In front headlight:

- low beam and daytime running light, position light?
- front turn signal
- High beam and side light (parker?)

Rear tail light - in boot - 3 bulbs?
-in body - 2 bulbs?

Not sure this is overly helpful!

Xenons are not available even overseas :(

Seems like you're right. Had a quick look at the US and UK website and they don't have xenon lights for the Jetta! Strange! It's like a step backwards. What's with the headlamp washers then?!

What bulbs did you get? Are you gonna replace all your bulbs? I'm interested in getting some LEDs for the DRL.

Keep us posted.

Yeah I got LED DRL and LED fogs from ebay,
The main H7 front lights I'm going to buy Philips DiamondVision 4300k from autobahn/repco as too many fakes floating around and rather pay the extra $30-50 for the real product!

Keep us posted! I'm planning on doing the same when my Jetta comes in. Pretty much the first thing I'll do.

Any links for the LED DRL and fogs?

Changed the bulbs in the new car today, Got Philips H7 4300k for main fronts and wedge bulb, LED DRL and LED fogs.

LED DRL was the most painful, hand got scratched pretty bad, spent like 30 minutes trying to fit my hand in the small hole; but it was worth it!!

heres a pic, not sure if you can see the LED:

Any pics with the main beam +, LED DRL/fogs turned on together?? Does the Philips 4300k bulb match with the LED DRL and LED fogs, in terms of the colour temp?? I'm definitely swapping mine! The LED DRL looks great.

Did you get any errors after changing the bulbs?

Heres a better look of the DRL led in place:

http://img.acianetmedia.com/i/F2rhd.jpg

And the Fog LED:

http://img.acianetmedia.com/i/4gAPH.jpg

Here is a colour shot, you can see that the philips 4300k is still quite yellow compared to the LED, I'm not sure how to turn on the DRL at the same time as mains and fogs, ..... I can only see a way to turn on the DRL by itself...

oh no CANBUS bulb out ERROR! after a few days!

Looks like I got scammed on the fogs for being 'canbus' ok!

Anyone else changed their bulbs?

Looking to pick my Jetta up this weekend. Will probably swap some bulbs immediately!

Am I able to replace the main bulbs with any H7's? Or are there certain types I should avoid. Got my eye on the Philips DiamondVision 5000k! Thoughts?

frozze did you manage to change yours?

Probably any H7 bulbs.. There are tons of brands out there. I went with Philips Crystal Vision 4300k. I don't like the bulbs being too blue (i.e. Diamond Vision 5000k). Also, the higher the temp, the dimmer it becomes. Plus, it gives out a bit more blue'ish tinge. Lotsa stock HIDs are 4300k, IRC.

My Crystal Vision came with some T10 parkers. So I swapped them too. Looks better but I think LED is the way to go. I've ordered some already.

Changed the fogs to Crystal Vision as well to match with the main beams. Changed the DRL to some LEDs too. Looks great! Works without throwing an error code.

Which ebay seller is this is you don't mind me asking?

And how straightforward is it to change the bulbs on the Jetta? Is there a guide online?

I got the H7 and fogs from the same seller.
H7 -> eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/120710927829?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649)

I'm not really handy guy at all, so I got some assistance with changing them. It was really easy for him, 15 minute job all round.
The DRL seems to be the hardest if you have large hands (particularly on the passenger's side).

Would you recommend replacing the DRL? Does it make a huge difference in looks??

It sure does! Looks way better than a stock yellow halogen bulbs. But I think the temp on the LED DRL is a bit too high. I think they're 6500k. 5000k is probably the perfect temp. Not sure if you can find them

I bought ones with 40 SMD LED's (vs 44 in yours) so it will be slightly cooler.

Also, did you replace all 4 H7 headlight/high beam bulbs? Are these available in Autobarn or SuperCheapAuto? Wondering if they're much more expensive there...

I don't think the amount of SMD matters with regards to the colour temp. Probably just slightly dimmer? I could be wrong though..

Only replaced the low beams. Hardly ever use high beam, didn't wanna waste the money.

Yeah you can find the Philips bulb at Super cheap auto. I was there 2 weeks ago. They're about $70-80, IIRC.

I got an error for my license plate as well but I've ordered another bulk of LEDs. I hope one of them will work! The current ones are a bit too dim anyway.

Will report back with the updated bulbs.

I'm an idiot for buying my DRL from another seller. The one I bought throws errors!!! These Chinese ebay sellers are so dodgy. Oh well, it was just $7 (though that could have been a Pizza Sub). Buying your DRL's NOW. So annoyed. Those DRL's were such a pain to replace!

I'm using the parkers that came with my CrystalVision. I think they look good so I won't put on these wretched LED's. The one I ordered was $3. Probably gonna give me errors as well. Still waiting for the plate LED's from the Aussie seller.

Lol it's really down to luck. Some work, some don't. Ch0p recommended them to me and I couldn't be bothered looking at others.

I think the parkers don't need CANBUS bulbs. I've got LEDs in them now but not bright enough. I've ordered a few more sets with more SMDs. Parkers are easy to change anyway so no biggie for me.

Those license plate LED's have now started to throw errors. I replaced the with the T10 white bulbs from the Philips H7 pack and sticking to those. May steer clear of LED's for now. Just ordered another set of T10 white bulbs to use as parkers, and may buy 1156 white DRL bulbs if the replacement CANBUS LED ones don't work.

Just placed some orders for more LEDs from v-leds.com!

The reviews seems pretty good and I'm hoping that I don't get an error code from the license plate with these!

Fingers crossed. Will post some results when I get them.
