engine specs?

hi all!

i'm in the process of looking for an either 05 or 06 diesel lwb transporter. i want the 2.5 128kw tdi, but believe there is 96kw model as well as the 128kw. is there an easy way to determine which one is which?
any help is greatly appreciated as i'd hate to buy the lower one without realizing.
is there a general rule as to which is the best engine/gearbox combination in these vans?

The non technical way is to drive them, you well tell pretty quickly if you have the big or small motor.

I'm sure someone else will have a more accurate method though!
