i was running my fronts and rears off a phoneix gold 4 channel amp.
but becoz my headunit only has 2 sets of rcas, i need to split the rear rcas for the sub.

so wen i did this, my rear speakers are not as loud. so is it because of splitting the rear rcas they have gone softer becoz of some power issue?

so for me to get better sound, should i use a 2 channel amp for the fronts and another 2 channel for the rears?

which means 3 amps in d boot:mad:
and to that, can i mount 2 ground cables at one point? at the moment i have to seperate grounding points but if i was to have another amp i dont want to look for a third.

another thing, should i use splits for rear speakers or just some 3 ways?
i want it loud without using 6x9's.

oh also, my front and rears are on HPF so there is no bass, i use the sub for bass only. is that the correct way? or should i use Full pass for the rears..

thanks in advance.

the reason you have expearianced a loss, is because you have split the voltage to each set of channels. to recitifie this you would need a full set of outputs. also put all the speakers on a high pass and use the sub to make bass.

Use a good co-ax in the rears, splits are over kill in the rear.

i dont use rears at all.

Can i have your amp? Phenix gold rocks.

haha
you can buy it or we can trade :D

so what way do you suggest for me to hook up the sub which out using splitters.

also, co-ax is that like 2way, 3way speakers?
i want it loudest as possible thats why i wanted splits..

edit:: i forgot to add, my phoneix gold amp has a AUX out. i thought this was to run another set of rca to another amp, but it does NOT work.

If you want go get loud, get powerful. That amp is heaps powerfull, what you need is control over it. Get a headunit with 3 set of preouts, so that you get full voltages to all the imputs. Try some high end Co-ax (2 or 3 way) speakers for the rear. Splits are mainly for front use.

hmm..
as you told me b4, change the input to front only. if i did this, wouldnt it mean my sub wont work because it uses rears?

as for a new h/u i dont really want to spend my money on one, any other ways? i'd like to know what the aux is for and how to use it.

there will be a way to enable the aux out. try looking in the manual. if you can get the pass through working you wont get any signal drop.

Hmm, run your rears off the HU's amp?? Rear's are only good as fill in for humans stuffed into the back. They do not matter as much as the driver :D

Read you manual again about hooking up speakers.

There is a metod that some amps can cope with, that you wire up the sub directly to the rear speakers like so

RL- = Speaker and Sub
RL+ = Speaker
RR- = Speaker
RR+ = Spearker and Sub

This method does crank! and means you do not use another amp - but the amp has to be able to handle add a Sub like this.

just buy a good head unit with 4-5 pre outs front,rear,sub,aux1,aux2
and a 5 channel amp if you dont to have amps everywere

if you plug rcas into the aux out on your amp, it should work. it should be that easy. maybe its come loose inside the amp or something. take it to fhrx, see if one of them can get it working.

I use this method for my center channel.

Ive also used it to run a 15" sub + speakers.
you need to get a low pass filter though.

you need a turn on delay on your sub amp, about 10-15 seconds should do the trick.

you need to either purchase or build one. search for turn on delay on google or similar.

higher end amps have a delay built in.

Sounds like your back to the drawing board for a new head unit then. How much are the delay thingo's? It just might be worth giving it a try. If your head unit was shorting out I'm sure you'd get more of a bang than that!
