Can anyone tell me what sort of connections are on the standard single DIN headunit found in the 99-00 GTI? Does it have RCA's on the back? Any one got pic's?

you have to use line level convertors. tap off your rear speakers.

Does this impact on the sound quality? Also - is there such a thing as having too thick a cable to run your amp from? I work in the telco business and I have some F@#$ off size cable that i swipped that I want to use. I was exhausted after raveliving it all up to throw into my trunk. To give you an idea - it's as thick as my finger, 2 fingers if you count both pairs...

quality wont be as good but its not bad at all, it does the job.

you'l have trouble hooking up a cable that size to the amp. the thickest i think is 0guage.

is this the stuff that is used to hook up solar panels in out of the way exchanges?

i'm sure someone was talking to me about it at work a few weeks back.

must be a lot of it around!

0/2 is the largest i know of. Its 2 sizes larger than 0 gauge.
Now THATS huge.
there is no detriment to running too large a cable, provided you can conect it to your amps, or run it through your car.

Not realy too sure what it's used for, I'd say it would be to power an amp for a base station, or a base station itself. I'll have a read of the description down the side and see if it gives any more hints as to it's purpose. I should be able to run it through, but I might have a little bump where I run it.
