i have bilstein pss9s in my mk3. have been really happy with them up until recently. I think they need a rebuild after about 65,000kms. The front end went mega soft mid way thru my trip to tassie earlier this year so i have had to dial them up to full stiff to get any soft of firmness back into them.

Ill pull them out when i get the new car in a few months time and have then rebuilt. will be interesting to see whats gone wrong in there. I was expecting them to last longer but i guess they really have taken a beating. especially on inner city melbourne roads.

Brackie is out of action for the next couple of weeks and all pm's and enquiries should be forwarded to the rest of the admin team.

I have Koni Coilovers at the moment and due to my back shock shatting itself I will be getting KW V2 upgrading to that, they are adjustable so even better.

I have ridden in a mk3 with these coilovers so I know what I am in for and persuaded me. Thats the best thing to do is before purchasing the product test out the product in a car similar to use so you know what its like ;)

KW's are probably the best in the industry ATM. Funny thing is from what I've heard & been told, Koni actually build the shock's to KW's spec's, which includes the valving spec etc.

H&R, Bilstein & Drummond Motorsport (ausgolfer has a set of these in his Mk2) are also up there too.

There are plenty of other brands on the market ie. Spax, V Maxx, Weitec, Koni, QA1 & it basically all depend's on the budget.

I don't have coilover's personally but have run Koni adjustables for over 10 year's of very hard driving & have never had a problem, which is why I'll probably purchase some KW V2's for my Mk1 once I've finished my current project. (Koni haven't made coilover's for the Mk1 for quite some time now.)

Yeah I have Drummond Motorsport (DMS) 50mm ones in my mk2, but they're really overkill, it's not a rally car although it could be with these (good thing I got a good deal on them).

If I had my time again I think I would have gone with KW's or Bilsteins and saved myself a lot of money.

Dad has run Kmac, KW, Weitec, Spax and a few others but has always turned back to Koni/King set up... With the shop close to home and they are mates of ours we cant go wrong...

From my friends personal experiences, King Springs are the next best thing to chopped springs. Ill ride a bike before i ever touch a King Spring.

I've had KMAC springs SNAP on me, be too stiff, be too soft, not fit etc, but my 3 sets of King springs have always been fine.

My friend races his $300,000 Escort on V8 supercar suspension that has springs made by King Springs.

Maybe your friend had 3" Ultra lowered springs or something. Off the shelf springs, even the 2" Superlow range have good rates. :?

Mate i know that... King only make custom springs for Mk1... U give them the spec and they do it for you and then get some Koni adjustables to suit...

U know u want too... Ha ha ha... :)

Yeah i know Kmac are cheap and nasty my ol man ran them in 76 TS Passat...
