This is going to be truly epic.
I reckon a 40 foot shipping container in orange on BBS RS lowered to the ground will look awesome!

Box and contents arrived around the 23rd July, a couple days later than scheduled.
Customs and quarantine all done, got the call to go collect the car :D
Tilt tray and myself roll up to find LH front wheel has hit the front guard causing damage. All tyres are flat as the car was a top load, deflating allows more clearance against the underside of the container. Unfortunately that didnt help, as close inspection showed the roof to have some paint damage !! :(
Good thing is all the loose stuff in the car is still intact. ( factory a/c set up, complete 16V Silicon hose set, 3 Wolfsburg wheels )
Getting quotes for the paint repairs and then will see where we go from there...

Having to do the repaint loses the advantage i had of bringing the car across..... pissed off yes...

Absolutely Luke. Got the first quote set at ~$1900 for the fix so far...May yet take a shipping credit insted tho... see what options are available.
Looks like I will take the front guards of as there is some crap underneath that needs seeing to as well.

Been spending time on Anton's Mk1 clone, now with a built 2E lurking in the engine bay.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/roccodingo/AntonGolf2Eswap.jpg
pretty well rewired the whole car back to VW spec ( colour code, wiring size, connectors etc ) building reliability into the car..

http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/roccodingo/?action=view¤t=070412Blueroc1.jpg
took a bit of effort to remove the guards without damage..

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/roccodingo/070412BluerocRHinnerfender.jpg
But all came away intact.
Main reason to remove and replace guards is to ensure this weak point of Mk1 construction is protected against rust.

Requires a good coat of paint at the A pillar junction to ensure integrity.( top and bottom )
Inner guards and inside the guards themselves will be getting a coat of 2 pac before reassembly.

Another easter fast approaching !!
Only been nibbling at the edges of this project as time is a bit of a rare comodity at present.
However....
Managed some more stuff from VW Classic parts
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/roccodingo/moreoriginals_zps67df57d2.jpg
Cleaned up a lot of bits ( dip, blast, electroplate, painting still to be done )
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/roccodingo/Axlesremand_zps5cfc1616.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/roccodingo/Girling60refurb_zpsf3a5fca1.jpg
Trial fitted a factory A/C console ( only available for left hand drive vehicles from the factory as per golf Mk1 )
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y140/roccodingo/Airconconsoletestfit_zpsfd03c0c7.jpg
And salvaged some tinwork from older cars to replace the parts removed for the 1.8T that use to live in here...
