Is this anyones on here??

1988 VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO Private Cars For Sale in NSW - carsales.com.au (http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?Cr=0&R=10381161&keywords=&trecs=1&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort_Decimal |1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__sid=13064D0D5380&__Nne=15&__Qpb=true&seot=1&__N=1216%201247%201252%201282%204294953945%2042949 62746&silo=1011)

I know it says 1988 and that is making me think it started life as a 1.8 16v (although they were 89). But i reckon its just a typo as the vr6 started in 1992 straight after the g60....

Anyway some interior shots would put my mind at ease but i am thinking if can gett he price down a little i may bring it over to wa...

What do you guys reckon and is it anyones on here?

Hi mate,

I was shocked to see this for sale a few weeks back so i contacted the seller, but he never replied. i was in the market for another one, but i got real lucky and found a G60 on good old Ebay. Turns out the guy only lived 20 mins from me and had a total of 3 Corrado's. so i'm the very proud owner of a 92 G60.

I have heard that this VR has a non VW dash and that's why there's no pictures of the inside. if that's the case then 22k is way too much, i paid a lot less than that for my one.

I reckon it's a conversion, pretty sure it's Tornado red. Flash red was the colour of VR6s. I thought it was pretty tidy TBH and it has the early interior with the window switches on the door, rather than in the handles. It also has sliding heater controls not the rotary ones.

Yeah it has to be a conversion hey, thats a 1988 to 1992 interior.

So that counts out the vr6's anyway.

Think i may give it a miss :(

Rather have a proper one that a made up one...

If its a conversion and youre not sure about the years there are a number of clues:
Early Corrados (pre 1992) came with a dash that has sliding heater controls and vertical slatted heater vents.
The switches will be like MK2 Golf (later ones are like mid late 90's Passat ones).
The door handles will have no lip around the key hole.
The bumpers have slightly different moulding lines on them.
The fog lamps are different.
The OBD connector under the gearstick lever will be a 2 connector type rather than the single large connector (This might be confusing is the car has been converted from a 4 pot to a VR6 using a much later engine and the VR6 loom aswell)
This car has a later bonnet fitted that was used to fit the VR6 motor. I think this would be OE as where would you find one of these unless imported?
I have not seen the pictures other than those on carsales but my guess is its an early LHD car thats been converted to RHD.
As the motor is stated to be a 2.9, then its not an import from USA as they were all 2.8L. Its probable the car came from continental europe.
If you got the VIN number I could possibly find out more about it from my contacts in the UK.
The colour looks wrong for a VR6 Corrado. You would need to see the build sticker in the boot to verify (if still intact)
Hope this helps.

Cheers for that :) I asked a few more questions but he has not replied ie is the engine code abv or aaa (2.8 or 2.9) did he do the conversion etc

This is Mark Hammond's Corrado. It was imported from Japan by someone else (not Mark) and converted to RHD by Mark. It is an early VR6 so has the old heater controls etc, it has the older style bumpers with inset fog lights, but has the later bulge bonnet. It is a 2.9 so not an SLC from the US. I helped him get hold of a lot of dash parts from the UK for the conversion, he's done a good job of it and the car is pretty tidy. Best thing is it has no sunroof.

Its a 1992, imported as a 1988 due to stupid Aussie laws.
Registered in NSW and all official hurdles crossed.
Jap Import and converted to RHD by Mark.

I also thought it was tidy and a good car. I have seen it twice in the flesh.

Its also one of about 8 Corrados in Oz and a shed load cheaper and easier than importing one.

Mark is an Old Bloke, use the telephone and get a quick responce. Probably checks his email twice a year.
