Cars going well, not a lot more I can do to it to keep it within the M2C2 class it falls into in the CAMS Tarmac rally rules. There's a few mods you can't see like all the airbags have been removed etc etc.

Next up will be hydraulic handbrake and separate callipers for it and custom shift to get it up higher near my hand. I'll get rid of the centre console at the same time and replace it with something custom carbon fibre to mount the different switches for the co-driver.

Then maybe some CF door cards and strip out the rest of the carpet and head lining and seam weld it. Other than that the only engine mods i can do is to balance and blueprint it and for the small gain I'll get with it having to stay NA I'm not sure it's worth it until it really needs a rebuild.

Next event is Wheels on Wide Bay a one KM tarmac sprint up at Maryborough at the end of the month, we get 10 runs over two days. I've also just sent my entry off for Mt Buller Sprint in November which I'm really looking forward to attending, the map of the route on the website reminds me of the roads I grew up driving on in BC.

The thing is I'm under no illusions of winning any of these events against the likes of STI's, Evo's, Jim RIchards and the like, I do this as a hobby for fun and I enjoy the car more now than when it was stock, so as long as I don't chuck it off a cliff I'm happy.

Ideally I'd like to get an S2000 Tarmac Polo from Rene Georges Rally Sport and run it, but I'm having a hard time selling Marti the benefits of dropping 150K+ on a car I could only use in events and at least with the R if I'm discrete I can still drive it on the road and haven't had to get rally rego for it yet.

Cheers Al

Edit must update that sig most of it is wrong now :-)

Edit 2 BTW the stock R steering wheel and airbag is still for sale if you know anyone interested in it.

I installed an Extinguisher on the back of the passenger side rear seat, seems logical, but the main reason was that with the rear seats folded down you can reach it from the drivers seat if you are in a hillclimb/motorkhana situation.

Sadly no pics. :(

Mt Buller Sprint this year is November 3rd to the 5th, I just got my confirmation that my entry was accepted (helps if the secretary is a mate). Will get there on Thursday the 1st so we can do a reccy of the route. We will be staying at the Mt Buller Chalet which is the Mercure hotel up there in the Village. Would be great to catch up with anyone who is going to go and have a sticky at the event. Maybe a couple of beers at the end of the day in one of the local pubs.

Cheers Al

Hi Dave

Next weekend, Wheels on Wide Bay at Maryborough Showgrounds. It's a 1km tarmac sprint, we get ten runs over the two days, also a car show and sound off running along side the sprint.

I'll be getting there on Friday for scrutineering etc.

Dave

:D:D

Only $1800 worth of damage to the rear right corner after an altercation with the armco in the wet. I was in second place at the time, just cosmetic no structural, panel or suspension damage just the rear bumper.

Finished in the top 30 out of 175 entrants and had a great time.

Car goes in Monday to Shipstone's to get it fixed. Next big event is Buller in November but I'll probably do a couple of smaller events and track days with the Porsche club leading up to it.

Just waiting on the DVD of the event, supposedly they caught it on three cameras so it should be good fun to watch :)

gpk, becareful of having blue lights on your number plates (And to whoever has them for parkers too) as it might lead to a $68-$138 fine as one of my friends found out about 3 months ago! only saying this because of this stupid 'new' crack down again they are doing cuz of those idiots who had the acco 'street racing' ..

other then that, the blue always looks good on silver cars!

I've seen grey R32 seats, but not on aussie cars - we only got black.

My interior mods are as follows:
Heated R32 seats
R32 wheel
brushed aluminium dash
brushed aluminium door pulls
W8 passat sunroof panel
NB sunglasses holder
Carbon fibre sunroof motor cover - it's not rice, I swear ;)
25AE Gear knob and boot
25AE pedals
Blaupunkt head unit with ipod connector
ipod remote contol mounted in dash button blank panel.
Centre front arm-rest.

and I've had a set of TT Instrument rings for 2 years, but I haven't installed them yet!

Want: OEM Nav
Matching dead pedal
Bora vents

You might as well not use the R32 mats (or whatever mat that you use underneath) if you don't want to mark them and just have them showing at cruises and such....

My Oettinger mats are used on a daily basis and of course they get a bit of heel mark and dirt, but that's why they are there.

Maybe someone should create a clear "condom cover" for mats now...
