Hey all,
Anyone else going to the VWA official Drive and Test days held around Aust (particularly the one at Eastern creek NSW)? Held 30th May and a few other dates...
Was part of an official email to "selected" VW clients last week. Supposed to be a day of education and test driving in all situations incl skid pans etc...
( I posted a similar thread already in the Tiguan section...sorry for the double up)

LOL at the title, I thought it was a new type of amphibious VW :p
Seriously though good to hear the day was fun, am still contemplating the WA one, may just take her to the track instead!

Hey guys!
It was indeed a great day!
Even though it was POURING!!!!!! down, it was great...in fact it made the whole track a skid pan.
No seriously, it really highlighted just how good our VW family of cars are. Even pushing 200kph down the straight, the wet didnt unsettle the cars at all.
Great to meet you all too guys.
Hey only thing....watch out in a few months for any "low km Demo VW GTI and R for sale as 'company driven cars'"....they got hammered! and very wet inside!

I'm booked in with my mate for Philip Island on 6th Sep. Can't wait!
To those who went to Eastern Creek, did they have a demo Polo GTI there?
I know it's inferior to the Golfs, but while I'm waiting for delivery of my Polo GTI, Philip Island would be a great test drive. :)

Hi Smacca,
Yep they had two Polo GTIs there. They were not used as the "flog the guts out cars", but you can take one for a run around the track if you ask the official VW guys nicely. One of our crew did that on his 3 laps around the track.

Thanks for the info Tigger. Asking nicely will be my strategy too. I'm in desperate need of a Polo fix while waiting for my expected delivery date of Feb 2012!

I was there in the Tuesday afternoon session. The track was wet and I have a lot more confidence in my own car's abilities after having driven the R and GTD. Granted their handling will be better than a comfy line, but the handling limits of the R & GTD are so high that my perception of my car's own abilities must also be too conservative.
I was impressed at emergency stopping in 15m to rest from 60km/h on a damp road for both R and GTD. Great to highlight the Golf's abilities.
