Hi All, i have done a search on this forum and cant get a Professional answer on this.

Do i need to Upgrade anything before i attempt to install a Version C L.E.D RNS510 (With latest firmware)

as i have purchased one off eBay for around the $1000.00 mark landed which i think was brilliant value, however i hear if i need to upgrade my CANBUS (to avoid the dreaded battery drain) then it will cost a few hundred dollars and which canbus to buy and where from.

Can anyone give me some correct advice??

Cheers,
robbie

I think the Mark V are ok the earlier models had a problem with battery drain , mines a Golf V 2008 and i have no issues.

You need to be careful as cars that were MY07 had different CANBUS over the build year - you need to check your controller part number ideally to be sure and follow the instructions here.

Upgrading 2nd generation radios (RCD 300, RCD 500) to 3rd generation (RCD 210, RCD 310, RNS 310, RCD 510) power drain issue | my-gti.com (http://www.my-gti.com/1101/upgrading-2nd-generation-radios-rcd-300-rcd-500-to-3rd-generation-rcd-210-rcd-310-rns-310-rcd-510-power-drain-issue)

FWIW - I had an MY07 built 11/06 and it had the drain issues.

Patience Robbie. No need to double post, people will help, unless you keep doing things like that, in which case you'll get a reputation as a pest.
Back on topic, the cheapest place to buy them is either the Skoda parts link in the My-GTi link, or off Fleabay. All the part numbers are in that link too for you to go searching. I'd also strongly suggest against creating a "is this a good one to buy" thread too.

Wow, such determination, I'll give you that:
www.skodateile.cz (http://www.skodateile.cz/index.php?pg=product&prod=153&menu=%C5%A0koda)
That is a gateway. No I don't speak Cz, but a quick google search of their site found it. You will need to confirm the firmware version is newer than S with the seller.
Ebay: search for "VW gateway", add "worldwide" to your search options, and there are 291 listed. Note you are looking for an S or later. Try adding AA, AB or AC (in turn) to your search.
