Hi all, I've been reading all of your posts with lots of interest over the past few weeks. I was lucky and secured a red 5d GTI from a country dealer who had one in stock for immediate delivery. The car is for my partner

Drove it to Sydney all the way from Dubbo in the pouring rain. Immediately fell in love with the car- so similar to my Golf MkV GTI in all respects. However, I noticed that the car pulls to the left quite significantly (even allowing for road camber etc) and the wipers judder like crazy on the down-sweep. *sigh* I guess I have to take it back to a city dealer to get these looked at under warranty.

A few other Q's-

For those of you who have sportpacks/GTIs, when exactly do the static bend lights (ie. the foglights) light up when you turn a corner? I tried activating them when I turn the wheel whilst the car's stationary or turning on the blinker- but the corresponding side's foggies don't light up.

Can auto locking on takeoff, single driver's door unlocking be activated in the car? I can't find that info on the MFD like my Golf GTI. The hadnbook doesn't mention it. Do any of you guys have this feature activated by the dealer?

Also, do any of the headlights light up when you unlock the doors? I thought all VWs have this feature but the Polo didn't seem to.

Thanks for your time!

I was wondering about the static cornering too! Mine doesn't seem to work either.
I read somewhere on the net that it had been disabled in Australia for some reason and had to be activated by the dealer, but the dealer told me they should be working straight away with no problem.

I must admit I have never used the fog lights as yet due to the potential to get fined by the police if used in the wrong circumstances. Congrats on picking up the car, I used the same method, ie, country dealer to secure one earlier.

Static fog lights work for me when turning the wheel with the normal lights on. If the normal lights aren't on then the fogs don't work.
