Hey guys,
Anyone found an updated Sat Nav disc? They used to be on the whereis site, but nothing there now for a VW/Bla'f'kt system for V13.
...or is it me?
Have you updated and where did you get it from?
As an aside, -06 Black Jetti TDI/DSG - now 7 months old with 12k on the clock. Doing great, no issues, really happy with great performance and fuel economy. 3 year lease, already discussing keeping it at the end. Can't wait for my next trip away. So far, best endurance 1160km - Sydney to the Sunshine Coast on 54.5l. We did our last trip up to Brisbane and back on 2.5 tanks of diesel (approx 2400kms) - my wife's CRV would have taken 5.5 tanks by comparison!!

Hey ScottH,
Spoke to Whereis today and they said they no longer support upgrades for
blaupunkt and they advised me to call blaupunkt direct.
Blaupunkt told me to call VW.
Spoke to my local VW dealer parts and accessories division ( Bill Buckle Brookvale Sydney ) and they have a v13 (he said supplied by Toyota) for $360. He also said there should be a new version every December available thru VW dealers.
Hope this helps

Since you mentioned that your car is 7 months old... i'm guessing its the VCD version

Hmmm... that's a bit average. Are the Toyota/Lexus (Fujitsu 10) ones usable in a VW system? At least they've come down in price - they used to be at least $600!!!

I just changed my Nav in my GTI from the CD version to the newer DVD version. (its a whole new head unit)
The DVD map cost me (trade) $628.40
Part number is F005X12669
Its version 12.
There is V13 for the CD type cars, priced at under $500. Still pricey!
Only way we can see from the front that you can tell the difference is the CD version seems to have a "TELE" button on it - The DVD version has "MUTE"

What's the difference between the DVD disk and the CD disk?

ones a dvd the others a CD (LOL j: )
Won't interchange.
I think they have gone to DVD format as theres more space on the disc for more information so its a logical step!

Yes, I did some ringing about - VW are quoting $500-600.
R13 - CD is out.
I did learn that they will update the CD one year, the DVD the next.
So, have to work out now if mine will take a DVD or not. I see on whereis that R14 is due out soon.
The pricing is pretty disappointing. The dealer was ducking a bit when I questioned the pricing.
I might have to go the Bill Buckle option - see if they are still competitive.
Or, hey if you can "backup a CD" effectively - perhaps we discuss an offsite backup for your updated CD - for a shared price. ;)

Hey Scott,
I know this is not SatNav related but to compare endurance with a manual TDI the Best I've got was Horsham to Victor Harbor to Nhill 1079km on 49 Litres.

nice one...
I've just clocked 20k on the Jetta and she's getting easy 900km around town.
On a run from my place to the airport - I'm getting down to 4.2l/100. Interestingly, I found by accident at 110km - slip back to 4th - revs about 3300 - she backs down to the 3.5/3.9l/100km range. Not encouraged for a long while, but interesting non the less.

Talking to the spare parts dude at Barloworld Glen Waverley, the advice was that V14 is available @ $396.00. It's just a matter of ordering it and they can get it from VWA within 24 hrs.

That would seem like the obvious reason however the RNS510 DVD only has about 293Mb of data on it.
Maybe its to do with disc read/access time but even that doesnt make sense as the 510 dvd can be loaded onto the internal HD.:???:
Maybe its because the change of manufacturer and Siemens/VDO only do DVD based systems now.:???:
Lots of maybes there but i think the last one could be the best bet.:?:

I have a DVD MFD2 RNS Blaupunkt unit in my 2007 Golf TDI. I have Whereis DVD Australia 14. I am still hoping to get an UPDATED disk for this unit. Why does it have to be so difficult.
I very much doubt you could even find a newer version that 14 to work on an MFD2? Reason being that with the '08 Golf update they moved on to the RNS510 for Satnav. Do you know for a fact you can get a newer version on DVD?
