Hi,

would any of you know how I can read the fuel temperature in my 2007 VW Caddy? Is it possible to show it on the display in the dashboard?

I would like to know what my fuel temperature is before I start the engine. I am on Biodiesel and it gets cold here in the Adelaide Hills.

Regards,

Arie

The simple answer is yes it can be done. The question is just how you want it acheived. And how much effort are you prepared to put in.........and is it worth the information you get out.

Personally, I think not.

Have a yarn to these dudes........they might be able to help you http://www.sig.itel.net/

Seano,

thanks for the information. I had a look at the sites and they may have something I can use.
I am at the moment discussing heating my VW Caddy TDI Fuel System with Heat Tracing Engineers. I use Biodiesel with Cloudpoints up to 12 C and need to be able to start my engine on cold days.

Arie

Put a tee into the fuel line at the point of interest preferably after the fuel heater and insert a standard coolant temperature sender. It is not really of interest how cold the fuel is. You can alleviate gelling by installing a fuel heater or injector line heaters. What you do need to know is that you are not heating rock diesel as you will thin the fuel and reduce lubricity to the fuel pump. I find when running vege oil that you need to know the temp of the fuel in the tank and the temp of the fuel as it hits the IP pump
