Hey all,
My names Joe and as this section suggests i just bought myself a Golf :)

Anyways short spiel about the car,
Its an 02' model Silver MK4 GTI
Previous owner had plans of modding the car up a bit so its got the front end of a R32 Golf, which has has the scoops slightly modded to fit a big FMIC. Looks great IMO though. Also has 18 spoked rims along with full leather interior, which i love!

Only has 155,000 kms on it and full dealership log book history since brand new. Looks like its been well taken care of.

I will post up some pics tomorrow hopefully for you guys.

The car is fantastic! an absoloute pleasure to drive, im coming from a stricktly commodore background so needless to say this is far and beyond anything ive previously driven

Anyways glad to have joined up here, ill soon be asking the age old question of "what to do now" reasons being is ive got a factory turbo from a R33 GTR sitting here waiting to do something :)...... but its gonna have to wait a little longer.

ill be curious to see what you guys think once i post up the pics

Welcome to the forum.

Have a good read about tuning the car, before you go throwing random turbo's on it. It won't end well.

The MK4 has been around for ages and there's no point in re-inventing the wheel. Software should be a major consideration for you.

Cheers

Gavin

haha yeah its definitely not going to be a quick made decision.

i have heard very promising things in the ecu upgrade areas for these cars, more than likely that will be the first avenue i take when it comes time for tuning.

for now im just happy its not a commodore

Nice looks to be in good condition.
Simple mods would be air intake and an ecu remap.
You could also do the exhaust (downpipe is the most restrictive section) to get a bit more out of the car.
Have a read in the Mk4 section as there is a tonne of info in there and the 1.8T is quite moddable.

If you are planning on using the Skyrine turbo you will have to go a lot further and it will cost a reasonable amount of money from what i have read.

Yeah i have been looking into whats needed to get T28 turbo onto it. seems to be a bit to do. just got to decide whether its worth it or not at this stage. if anyone has taken this path let me know whats involved it would be much appreciated.

exhaust will definately be done, ive only been holding off becuase i was unsure of what avenue i was going to take in terms of modification

The tinkering will certainly happen, but for now, its a sweet looker

oh the tinkering is all ive been thinking about.
honest opinons what should be done? i against most of what ive read on here installed a MBC about 2 months ago. its running at 12psi and have had no problems so far. noticeable performance gains for it though.

i keep going to the thought of a big turbo upgrade, purely due to the fact that the cooler has already been done (seems like a waste to not use it properly)

thoughts? opinios?

Jet black would look AWESOME, but would make your R32 bumper less obvious. On the other hand, the intercooler will stand out massively :)

With the turbo, I say go for it if its just lying around, cause the mk4 GTi was no huge performer :)

But if you're going to do it, do it properly.
