Anyone know why the horn doesn't work when the car is off ?
Can it be enabled by the dealership via the vag-com?

Reason i ask is that i was waiting outside my wifes work when someone trying to reverse park in front of me actually backed into the GTI
I tried beeping the horn before it happend but it doesn't work when the car is switched off. :?

Luckly the number plate cover took the impact and there are no scratches or marks on the car.

Retarded people who can't park a car properly - gotta give you the ****es eh? I've never seen an option in VAG-COM to enable/disable the horn with the key off?!? I think a lot of European cars are set up like that though - I remember Escorts and Cortinas (and even some Falcons) in the 70's had horns that only worked with the key on.

Actually, I reckon set up a compressor/air tank and a big juicy truck air horn (if you can find somewhere to put it!). That'll work, regardless of key position, and scare the ****ter out of the tool who just about hits your car! :D

That's how VW's are wired: certain functions only with the ignition on. Its not a thing you can alter with programming.

You could do a direct feed to the horn, say from the battery. The horn button earths the circuit, so it would then work whenever you hit it.
