Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know that I'm organising a show of Dubs at the Oktoberfest held at the Hubertus Country Club on the Sunday of the October long weekend. (September 30th)

Free entry and for those who want to stay the weekend, there is plenty of room to set up a camper (or tent) with power and toilet facilities if you want to get into the German beer early. (They have local as well).

I've been the last few years and it's been a great family atmosphere with rides for the kids (The same people that were at the Nationals), strong arm competitions (Where you hold a full stein at arms length for as long as you can) and trophies sponsored by the Hubertus Country Club.

Let me know what you think and I'll post a reminder mid September..

As it's getting closer, I thought that I'd revive this thread and also post some pix and last years report on the happenings.

Some facts.

Free Entry.
Smaller than the one held at the same time in Fairfield.
We get prime parking positions near the Marquis.
Lots of space for the kids to run around.
Entertainment for the kids. (Last few years had pony rides, jumping castle, merry-go-round, clowns that you feed balls, etc)
Licensed club with big screen TV.
Traditional German Oktoberfest.
Genuine German Beer, food, dancing and atmosphere.
Glass souvenir Beer Steins.

Hubertus Oktoberfest, 1 October 2006

Sunday was a fantastic day. This year the weather was on our side, which made it all the more enjoyable. It was a relaxing day, listening to the German music, watching the German dancing and drinking plenty of German DAB beer. The food also was great, although there was a bit of a line up, but it was worth it in the end. We had quite a few people looking at our display. We sold some merchandise and handed out membership forms, so maybe we'll have some new members soon.

A big thank you to those who came on the day. Ray, Shirley and Daisy the Type 3, Brian with his Golf III, Darin and family with their '62 Beetle, Bob and his Thing (181), Bill and family also with their Thing, Andrew and family with their '61 Beetle, Phil and his '74 Kombi Campmobile and we were of course there with our T3 Caravelle and Golf III VR6.

A great big thank you to the Hubertus Country club for allowing us to display our vehicles on the day, and also for again sponsoring the trophies. Congratulations go to:
Phil Matthews - Best VW on the day Ray & Shirley - Consolation Prize

The children were kept entertained throughout the day with rides, games, the model boat club and the local fire brigade who let them have a go at fighting (fake) fires and driving the (model) fire truck.

All in all it was a great day, as we look forward to the Oktober-Fest next year.

The map here shows there the Marquis is (Yellow Box) and where we have traditionally parked (Blue Line). It depends a lot on the people with the kids stuff and traditional "Fair" stands are... I'll mount a Yellow Arrow on one of the light posts pointing to where you turn off for access.. A few times it was right near the parking area (As long as you take it slow because of the kids wandering around) and one year it was just inside the gate, then keep the dam to your left and follow it right around and come in from the bottom of the picture.
