Hi all,

A friend is looking at getting a new Polo 77TSI and would like to know how much servicing costs are.

Thanks in advance.

I think this question is too early for us...

Most of our cars are under 5000 km, (unless you are a "taxi driver") and I got a sticker that says first service @ 7,500km

My first service is 15,000kms or 1 year.

you'd think it might be like the last turbo ones...

~$330 at the dealer, ~$280 at a VAG specialist.

Is it what the dealer sticker says?

or is it what the user manual says? because I haven't had a closer look of the manual yet.

I think it was the user manual, I read it when I got the car and haven't checked since :P

My dealer sticker says 15,000km, but they offer a free 'pit stop' service every 7,500km where they top up the fluids for free

Perhaps mine sticker (of 7500km) was meant for that as well, except I didn't go to pick it up myself. So missing out on heaps info

Had to work...

15k scheduled, 7500 optional from memory. We'll be doing the 7500's as the missus did 190k in her last new car and likes to look after them. Means I can waste more money on depreciation myself lol.

I got freebies and a lot of other things under a written contract between me and the dealer...believe me when paying for the vehicle...negotiation on servicing/car services can be made :D

go on mate! what kind of deal did you get?

it's just good to know... part of the reason i dont go to my (awesome) dealer is because my mech can undercut their cost by like 30%

I have requested for a capped costing scheme for servicing for the life of the Warranty, courtesy car regardless of timing of request so for example if i wake up and drive my car notice a rattle or a problem, they will organise a car on the spot for me at the time of request.

The use of only Penzoil Platinum Synthetic oils as i have had nothing but a great experience using it on previous vehicles (no extra cost).

and just a few goodies, Polo T-shirt, spare polo keyring, polo Cap, VW Umbrella and a toy model of the Golf R (i collect model cars oh yeah!)

I think i might have to get that dealers name Hail. If guys in melbourne cant get me that think have to jump on a tiger plane, get the car and drive back.

Should give me a good post for the milage thread lol

Euro car are just hardcore on service costs and a few dealers down here atleast give you extra 12 month warrenty unlimited ks. Audi as part of the A1 launch gives you FREE included servicing for life of warrenty. Might be a good bargin choip for those yet to get there VW's as the group likes thecar marques to compete between themseleves :D
the free road side assist is a nice touch

Old thread but didn't see the point in creating a new one. The 77TSI is up for its 15k service so did a quick ring around and tried sussing out any extra "addons" they love to charge for

Essendon $356 (But are the most useless ****ing idiots of any dealer I've ever dealt with and that includes multiple Ford ones!)
South Yarra $395 (plus $55 if tyres need balance/rotation)
Burwin $355 (no cost if tyres need balance/rotation)
Glen Waverley $410 (didn't say)
Berwick $395

Has to have the engine bay rattle fixed along with a new drivers mirror assembly/cover fitted because someone smashed it... inconsiderate pricks

Car has only done 6k worth of kilometres, so will go for the first year xD lol $345 Chatswood capped service for me due to contract agreement.

Also stay tuned have bought ABT Rear Diffuser with twin mufflers, currently on the way and getting Stage 1 ABT chipset (once they fix the bugs from what Thomas told me it's quite...unpleasant at the moment)

But if you want aftermarket kits, chips, or wheels talk to Thomas Ullman at Ramspeed he also does VAG servicing ;)

i got my 15k done at vw Werribee $356 - including rotating wheels/balancing.

They also gave me a tfsi Jetta to burn around in for the day while it was getting done :)

Just remember that the DSG box is vverry expensive to service with a few years under it. With a Golf you can at least have the choice

There is a web site that psost recommended service costs for all cars, it is in one of the Polo 9N threads but I haven't been able to find it. Might be worth a search if you really want to know.

Hi,

I'm up for my first service and as I am new to Polo's and VWs in general I thought I would ask a few questions.

Q Past experince with other makes suggest dealer servicing can be expensive and questionable quality. Do most (or will you if you haven't yet had the first service) get their servicing done at a dealer? Or will you be using a non-dealer VW Speacialist?

Q Who do you (or will you) use for servicing (Melbourne)? Dealer or specialist

Q Looks like first service will be in the range of $350ish?

At this stage I'm thinking take the car back to dealer I bought the car from, although I'm not overly enthusiastic about them after questionable attention to detail displayed when picking up the vehicle... car over heated 15 mins from dealer due to pre-delivery inspection not locking the overflow coolent reservoir (I was told they are unlocked in transit and they are suppose to be re-locked on pre-delivery inspection).

Hi Pepper Polo, welcome to the forum, your's wouldn't be a pepper grey, 5 door TSi with panoramic sunroof that used to get parked in a driveway but is now on the street would it? :) If that is you, i spend quite a bit of time in Howitt street so you will likely se my toy from time to time if you have a keen eye;)

In regards to servicing, it mostly comes down to how much you are willing to pay. So long as where you get the servicing done uses the correct lubricant / fluid grades, then there will not be any issue in regards to warranty. The only thing they will not have access to is the full-on VW scanning / programming tools so if things like software / firmware updates become available, you will miss out. Personally, i will get my GTI serviced at a dealership but that is because I have a working relationship with them but for $350 at an independent garage, the GTI is $380ish for the first service, so the price doesn't seem too much different:)

Which dealership was it if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for the quick reply Gavs.

Nope the Tsi isn't mine, I have a Tdi.

Yeah makes senses about the system reading tools. I'll probably get it serviced at the original dealer as they did mention at the time of pickup that due to their stuffup with pre-delivery inspection 1st service would be half price or something... time will tell on that one as it was all verbal...It was Bayside VW(Barloworld).
