In 2005 with Stanford Uni "Stanley" the Self Driving Touareg won the Darpa Challenge a US Military funded program to see who could build the 1st fully self driving vehicle that complete there set dirt course.

This year VW are teaming up again with Stanford Uni with "Junior" (Passat TDI Wagon) to take on Darpa's Urban Challenge, yes it will drive the streets of LA :O
