I would probably do springs first as not only will the car corber flatter but look better too with no clearance problems :-)

It's my fiancées car and she wont let me lower it :p

My wife said the same thing, but after it was lowered she said it looked heaps better!

It drove and handled better too and the the best thing is that it does not scrape anywhere because the stock suspension is so high.

I told my wife she had no choice otherwise I would just keep pestering her till she said yes. LOL

Just curious Billecartz, who did the H&R lowered coils for you and at what cost was it for parts/installation?

I bought the coils for Orange tuning in Germany for $278.00 landed, I then asked a mate who is a VW mechanic to install them. It cost $200.00 to install and a carton of beer for a 4 wheel alignment and removing the coils from the front struts.

Transformed the car completely, looks and handles better, is more responsive to the throttle and much nicer all round package.

I'm wondering if some of you guys would have been better off waiting a few months for the GTI given some of the mods being discussed?

i prefer the TSI over the GTI for some reason, don't ask me what it is might be just a gut feeling.

Is this for the lowering coils? send me a pm of how much it "may" cost for shipment, delivery/fitment to the car.

Cheers matty

Coils only is not going to be nearly as good as matched shocks. It is a good way to improve the ride height and body roll.

I had H&R coils on the last Polo GTI, was better than stock but big potholes and bumps were very crashy.

Yes I should have, but then we still don't really have a firm date and price. I needed a car back in May so I had no choice.

EDIT: Put me down for the group buy as well.

What coils are being quoted on? Street Performance, Premium Performance, RSS Club Sport or Ultra Low?

Billecartz; can you give some idea on the clearance on your car with the new springs (I take from the picture you are still using the stock Sports Pack Wheels). I, like a lot of others, am still to receive my car but clearance will be an issue on my driveway. I drove a standard car into the driveway with a bit of a scrape when I was test driving, but the dealer assured me the Sports Pack has more clearance because of the larger wheels.

No coils are being quoted for on this page, its only the anti roll bars that are being discussed/ordered.

Hali, thanks for the heads up [After re-reading the thread that it all makes sense]

Although I don't need the parts yet, I would still be interested to find out the quoted price for the anti-roll bars. I am planning on upgrading the suspension package when mine arrives.

Any reason you are looking to import rather than get the Whiteline rear sway? Would be much cheaper and Whiteline make good gear.

http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_detail.php?part_number=BWR23Z

Pricing seems steep, but can be had much cheaper if you can find a good contact.

Didn't relise whiteline made one! I quite like there products, I may look into that.

Should I leave installing the bar to a mechanic or is it pretty easy to do?

matty

the eibach is a bit cheaper minus the shipping. i might visit repco as they are the stockists of whiteline. the whiteline is also a rear roll bar so maybe one of each? :P they dont look that complicated. i was thinking, depending on the quility of the instructions, to do it myself?

Actually that Whiteline one looks like it's only rear....

Buller_Scott

the whiteline is only rear (for now), but it made a good difference to turn in and flatness in cornering, even on my polo tdi.

i tried to get mine from repco, and the clowns there laughed when i said its for a polo (to my face), then they said they'll sorta give me a call if whiteline sends some down to victoria, but it's one of those things that you never know, so it's pretty much anyone's guess, but if they do, its $250, whenever that may be.......

walked into autobarn, got the guy to call up whiteline on the spot, and paid $199 on the spot. done.

How easy was it to install?

noone
31-10-2010, 05:29 PM
Very easy to install on the last Polo, kit looks the same.

I would not upgrade the front bar, needs to have subframe dropped and if you want the handing, coilovers or spring and shock combo should be the way forward,

what ben (noone) said..

as for the install- easy to do yourself with a couple of spanners and allen keys.

kit comes in a big plastic bag with the lengthened bolts, sachets of grease, all bushes etc etc...

i am in no way mechanically minded, but me and my old man pulled it off no probs- took a very cautious, relaxed 3 hours... on the side of an off-street in busy hippy-pushbike-riding-lettuce-devouring-30-year-old-professional-melbourne-uni-student-tree-hugging-sea-shepherd-hoodie-wearing fitzroy.

if you wanna hook up and have a look at what it looks like underneath, you're in melbourne- just hit me up and we can organise a little look see (come to think of it, i've gotta grease my bushes again)

Well then... Who wants to pay 100... Pounds to ship each kit. Ouch!!!! They want £97 per kit and that's in a group of four
