Ah, the waiting game. The next bits the worst...so close but still so far! If you're like me, you'll go down the docks the day it's unloaded to see if you can catch a glimpse (I saw the wing mirror...who else would have a yellow wing mirror! ;) )

nope - they get driven on to, and then off a massive floating car park (the ship), on to the port docks. ours, & possibly urs too, is in one of these ships (otello (http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/showallphotos.aspx?mmsi=266210000)) at the moment.

BTW what was the date of week 35? Does anyone know?
wk 35 = mon 30th aug to sun 5th sep
mine was built on day 5 of wk 35 - turns out to b fri 3rd sep.

Seems like half the people waiting for their cars are on the same boat (no pun intended)!

After calling my dealer yet again, managed to find out that my car was built on the 1st of September & even got the VIN number... Love how helpful they have been since I handed over my deposit... 2 weeks ago my dealer said it wasn't even on the build schedule yet. Useless.

Anyway, it's on its way!

interesting to note though, the ETA you have is "01-11-2010". The ETA i have, probably had now, was "31-10-2010".

The suckiest thing is once its arrived you will then have to wait 36hrs for customs to clear the car, then a day for transport if it comes straight here or goes to Syd first and then joins other cars coming to Canberra.. then you have to wait till the car is delivered to Lennock, PD'd, detailed etc and then registered.. Boom its yours and thats mid November.
Im not expecting my Superb till at least the week of the 15th of Nov.. one day that week it will happen if all goes to plan.

Finally got a hit on the WWL Tracking site! Ours in on the FAUST (http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/voyageSearch.do?actionType=searchVoyage&searchVoyageString=CO027-FAT) - Expecting delivery late November now.

Having said that; I'm assuming the 3 vessels that arrived 5th, 10th & 14th August had a lot of Skodas on-board! I'm suddenly seeing them everywhere - to the point that I think I'm averaging 2 or 3 a day now. I know there's another thread that deals with this but am I the only one who's noticing it?

I understand that they often play a game called "Spin the Skoda off the deck" when they get bored. :-)

bhahahhaa. i would've thought they liked to play "rock the boat" - which ever cars remaining bolted down, undamaged/unscratched gets to stay on the ship, n hence delivered!!!

but this is weird though - i've heard of planes circling when they're in a holding pattern, cause obviously they can't "park mid-air" and wait for their turn to land!! however why would a ship need to do burnouts, err, circle, whiles its waiting for its turning. won't this b costly for them by burning fuel?
surely the captain can put the ship in 'park', put the handbrake on & "play rock the boat" or "spin the skoda off the deck" till he gets the green light to come in & dock!!!

That's not a very big area they are going around it it's probably just tidal movement if they aren't anchored. I suspect that parking and restarting one of those things would cost an absolute fortune probably more than just keeping it idling into the wind.

Just phone one up. They have a database of every Skoda in the country (and every Skoda that's on it's way) and who they are going to whether they are dealer stock or customer orders. The Superb that had the specs I wanted was in MEL and the dealer trucked it up to SYD for me.

320d Convertible. Can't wait. I ordered it in February for the new update / facelift, and had to wait until July when it was on the boat when BMW figured out they had accidentally ordered all 320d coupes and convertibles in manual rather than auto... FML!!! They had to re-order for September build but I was not happy to say the least. At least it will get the September / 2011 spec.

Is the 320d Manual homogolated for Australia - or do they send them back to The Fatherland?

gobobbie
25-10-2010, 01:14 PM
They had just launched the manual with the update/facelift, hence why they accidentally ended up with the manuals, so yes they will be homogolated for Australia. Apparently the dealership had to accept delivery of all of them as they made the error rather than the factory.

Dude.. I'm a senior IT Consulting Engineer/Architect for my very successful company.. i know how to use macs/pc's ( nix or windows )

cache isn't it.. after a reboot the mac decided to play the game.. ( ha its trying to be windows )

It's ok to admit you didn't know how to fix without a reboot. ;) I know many IT people who wouldn't know to clear caches so it wasnt so dumb what he suggested. Computer scientists are another story.

I guess it was safari acting up?

My wife had Mozilla crash a day or so ago...haven't seen it do that in ages so the latest update seems dodgy....can't really bear to use Safari....on the upside at least you know your car is that much closer now....

Has anybody received their car from Otello? I'm still waiting for my dealer to call me with good news. The car has been discharged on 1/11/2010, and no word since then...

It's usually two-three weeks after the vehicle is discharged before the dealer gets notification that it's ready for delivery to them. The vehicle has to go through bond and be released to Patricks and then have to do all the ADR compliance and pre delivery stuff including repairing any damage the vehicle may have sustained in transit and making sure all the correct paperwork (owners manuals) is included and safety equipment is fitted then they release it to the dealer who then when they get hold of it do the pre delivery clean and service inspection and registration plus any dealer fitted options. The dealers usually only take a couple of days but once they physically get the car Patricks are basically a law unto themselves and it's just a question of waiting semi patiently.

Realistically if the car was discharged on the first I would expect delivery to the dealer during the week 15-19 November at the earliest.

Just you VIN in the Cargo ID will be sufficient.
If it comes back with no results then they dont know of the vehicle yet.
