I just finished putting in the new headlights, taillights and steering wheel I got a while back. All went in without any trouble. The horn doesn't work and can't seem to figure out why. Tips?

Headlights look good, how do they light up? Not sure about the rear lights, but it's your car!

Looking good. Just to let you know you wont pass rego without an airbag, it is illegal to remove safety items such as airbags if it was fitted from factory.

If ur really keen some 1994/95 models in the US didnt have airbags and such had an upper glove box, ask a dealer to see if u can get it. I think u also need to take the bulb out so ur airbag light isnt always on. Personally i wouldnt do it but if ur intent on keeping ur wheel its an option.

I'd rather get the wheel from a mk3.5 Cabrio. works 100% and looks sex

I prefer the stock one. Two seperate horn buttons sit right under my thumbs, perfect for the quick toot in anger j:

Wow that cabby wheel looks nice! It looks exactly like a mk4 gti or mk4 bora wheel, i wonder if theyre compatible?

Edit: Had a quick look and a mk4 cl/gl wheel will fit but u wont have airbag/horn/canceling indicators. Other mk4 wheels wont fit at all :(

Golf 3 air bags were optional. (passenger side)
If you wanted a glove box, TKM took out the air bag.
I don't think air bags were a requirement then.

it is a little bigger but i like it, makes the car look heaps newer.

VR6's had both airbags stock.

The Cabrio wheel definitely looks more updated and modern! I personally prefer the original though.

I love the original, has anyones Vr6 wheel started to wear off at the top. Would love to get it retrimmed in new leather with perferated bits etc.. with stitching to match my interior.

new cover that you hand stich/stretch over. they look great, and you can hardly tell they are there.

Had a look at the link - it really does look good. From the pics, look like it would be factory-fitted too if done correctly. Would you happen to know what material?

Maybe it's just my style, but I'm not feeling the steering wheel or the tails. The side markers and headlights look good though. I would rather prefer a wheel and tails that looked like they belonged there. Perhaps some smoked stock tails or half red/half white, etc. and a steering wheel that was darker in color to match the interior.

It's your car though, those are just my opinions. ;)

Vr6_Dog

Tend to agree on the tails. Tail lights are a tricky one on the Mk3's. I think Mk4 golfs can get away with different aftermarket styles of lights but they tend to look a little contrived on Mk3's for some reason. I think the best lights are the stock Vr6 lights, even tinted a little more they look good also.
Having said that its your car and you need to be happy with it.

Cheers
Lex

The reason I went for the taillights was that it was the most original design i'd seen. I don't really like the horizontal design. I think it makes the car look old. Only my opinion.
I am planning to change the interior, maybe a porsche red, and respray a dark silver/gun metal colour.
Wide body kit too.
Can't wait.

i dont mind the tail lights but for me i feel like it breaks those nice straight lines on the mk3s too much, thats why i think people like the horizontal styles better; However it can fit in depending on how you dress the rest off the car up. the stock steering wheel was too big for me, was too clumsy taking fast corners one after another n you dnt need an airbag if you got a harness and cage ;) lol . . .

anyway, cant wait t see your next move! ie.wide body

I have just fitted the new front spoiler lip. What do you think? I think it looks pretty good now, more aggressive.
