Hi,
As i said in my introductory post i am still undecided on whether to purchase an 03 polo se as a daily driving car. I understand this is mainly a forum dedicated to the turbo polo's, so sorry for asking questions about a normal one..
Basically as a whole i really like the car, but I do have some questions about what can be done to them. Ok when i say I, I mean my husband who loves to play with toys.
There is a lot of information on here about the polo's but what i am a little confused about is whether this info applies to the 9N (which i am looking at) or mainly to the 9N3 newer ones. From the 'history' link they appear to be pretty much the same car with different headlights and tail lights.. but im still not sure if this means that parts are interchangable between models.
Firstly, i really would like to replace the factory wheels with a set of alloy wheels. From what i have read so far, i think they use a 5 x 100 stud pattern (is this right, or do i sound like an idiot?). I cant seem to find much in the way of polo alloy wheels for sale, but is this the same size as the MKIV golf's? If so a 16" set of those should fit if i understand correctly? I am after something second hand and cheap (though OEM wheels are definitely preferred) so am trying to find something on ebay someone would have upgraded.
The one drawback i have found is the lack of power :(. Yes, i understand compared to the GTI it will have less.. much less... but if it was a bit quicker (like my old corolla) that would be nice. I know the GTI we have was 'chipped', but i dont think i can do that to a standard 1.4 polo. Is there any other mods that can be done without spending too much money? Or is it just a matter of getting used to the power difference?
