Mazda bravo/Ford Courier

Hey gang,

Pretty keen on getting myself a ute. Need to carry bikes, shovel and surveying gear plus go away racing bikes/cars on weekends.

Want to go away camping and cause havoc in the bush. I donr want hardcore 4x4 as i have my mates cars to go and spend 2 hours winching up a cliff but juts want something to get me to the good riding places and tow my Golf.

Have looked and searched for forums but no luck.

I drove the oldmans Courier for months (petrol manual 3 seat 2003 4X4) when my golf was having one of its off-of-road experiences (its a bit hippie and new age when it comes to that) and they're pretty bloody good.

Steering has...... zero feel in it, and you get the sensation it's made from al' foil but that's all part of the uteing experience, my brother managed to get it deep enough in salt water to fill the tray, and it still cleaned up ok (dad noticed the water in the headlights though :rolleyes:), used to haul our decent sized tool box trailer, and all our old freakin cars each time they had a tanty all without complaint.

Road use they are fairly agricultural and the gearing is a headache in a hilly suburb, change up hills 2nd breeeeeeeeeee, slip into third putt putt putt , and repeat... it's never the right gear. But over all, for the money very good experience from our one anyway.

Another one to check out would be a Nissan Navara. don't rule them out over a courier (After all theyre just fords!)
Hilux's are generally overpriced/overrated for the money/age/kms
Keep in mind IFS is limited offroad but with a bit of winding the torsion bars up and decent tyres you'll be surprised how capable they can be.

Yeah my mtes have given the whole IFS is crap lecture.

Dont have nay plans of lifting it or doing extreme 4wding, just bashing through mud and casuing havoc.

I want an extra cab, as need for a full tub length for bikes and the bonus of being bale to store crap and little people behind the front seats.
