You won't see too many like this in Australia.

It belongs to mrgolf. He'll now be able to put his Mk2 GTI into semi retirement I guess. Kudos for getting the, effectively, custom colour ... even though Candy White looks better!

Thanks for the pics, Liam.

I love the car!!! Looks awesome. Drives awesome... Gets a bit of attention, too!! Feels so nice to drive. To come: tint and colour coding.

As for explanation? A couple of years ago, VW marketing caught up with me at the Nationals, and asked if they could use my MkII for a photoshoot for their Volkswagen Magazine as part of the MkV launch.

So when it came time to order the new one, I contacted marketing again and asked if I could special order a colour. They allowed me to as a one off. I chose grey. :D

That's awesome!! That was the colour my wife and I really wanted when we placed the the order on ours - such a pity they're not bringing that down to Oz - available in the USA, so wondering why not here?? :?

Oops, dunno WTF I keep referring to it as Urban Grey ... I've tried changing the thread title to United Grey ... mods, can you deal?

To follow up on the colour thing, seems a shame that Steve's car is now one of at least three United Grey 3dr GTIs. Another one is owned by one of the guys at Lennock and I spotted another one en route to Sydney on a transporter at Gundagai on Tuesday night while travelling back to Canberra from Adelaide.
