HELP! Knock when foot is taken off accelerator.

Hey People

When I was driving home from work tonight I noticed a knock when I took my foot of the accelerator. The car was not under heavy acceleration and I didn't take my foot off the gas too quickly. Then as I was pulling into my unit there was a knock as I went over the speed bump.

The knock isn't violent but definitely noticeable. It is coming from the somewhere behind the accelerator.

Any ideas on what it might be?

Can I still drive the car?

Sorry for the vague description but I am not mechanically minded.

Sounds like it could be a gearbox or engine mount. What year is your car?

Thanks for the reply. I hope it is not the gearbox as I imagine that it won't be cheap to fix. It is a 2007 with 71k. The warranty expired last month.

Is it easy to check the engine mount? Anyone want to give me a step by step..... Dummies guide to checking engine mount! :duh:

That could be a few things there matey, we could get you to try lots of things here but i suggest take a tech co pilot out mate and simulate it. More chance of finding it that way,have you done many ksss??? Sounds like a bush and you say its coming from behind your foot, your lower control arm bushes are close to there. Take a tech out and let us know if we can help.i supply Solid Seat Cupra R bushes mate if you need them. They will last a LOT longer than the voided ones you have

Cheers Jmac. Didn't think I would get a clear diagnosis but at least some idea of what it might be... other then a clunck from behind the accelerater.

I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Don't know anyone else to take it to on the Sunny Coast. Any suggestions?

Mike... Been on the coast about 2.5 years now. But only just started on watercooled. Where do you take you car for servicing?

Should unless its a very loud clunk, if it is then get to the dealer ASAP.
Let me know, ill be up there anyway, and i can adapt some of your central locking and initialise some goodies if you dont have them
