Hi Guys,

I'm interested in buying a MkVI GTI. Can someone recommend a sales person in SA who is good to deal with? Please send me a PM if you don't want to put their details in the public forum.

Cheers,
Matt

I dealt with Ashley at Medindie, and would definitely recommend him. Easy to deal with, and very helpful in addressing my questions before and after the contract was signed.

Thanks guys. I'm going to Medindie Solitaire tomorrow. Hopefully I can negotiate a good deal. I'd like to avoid traveling to Melbourne becase my wife will probably spend more on clothes and shoes than I would save on the car!

Hi Guys,

I went to see Michael at Medindie Solitaire yesterday. The test drive was good and it didn't take long to reach a deal I was happy with. Highly recommended.

Cheers,
Matt

Congratulations! What are the specs of your new car? Any ETA on delivery?

Hi Adam,

I ordered a 5 Door DSG GTI in Candy White with ACC, Bi-Xenon and Park Assist. I also added GTI door sills and GTI floor mats and the factory tinted windows.

I wanted tot eh 18" VW motorsport wheels but they are too expensive. I get can primo Volk TE37 TA's landed for considerably less than the VW price.

The ETA is 4 months. I believe it's 4 - 6 weeks before they even start production on the order.

Cheers,
Matt

Very nice Matt. TE37s are a great rim too. I have my eye on a set of Omanyts or else BBS CH myself.

Yeah the BBS CH would look good. The CH-Black and CH-R would look good with most VW colours.

People may not realise you're talking about SA dealers. ;) I've merged your thread with this one.

To answer your question, the price you'll manage will depend on the salesperson you speak to, and your negotiation skills. Good deals can be had from either dealer.

I can't comment on the Duttons servicing; Solitaire have been fine for me thus far, but then others' experiences do vary quite a bit.

Take a look at this thread also: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/forums/f112/golf-mk6-prices-dealer-negotiations-31714.html

But of a bump.

I hated Solitaire. There was a young dude there who failed sales 101 at every opportunity. The young lady was nice but I think she must have been on leave or something by the time I went back a second time.

I really like Duttons. Great staff but they do seem to have a high turnover rate. Great servicing and if you live in Adelaide they will pick up and drop off your car.

lynas is the 3rd option. their original salesman was quite green and had a poor knowledge base of his products.. and tim lynas (via his sales staff) told me to test drive a car in the city and come back to buy it from him. i live around the corner from lynas, but still bought from hawthorn.

alli fick was the best salesperson i've dealt with but as far as i know, she's on leave for a year or so. i bought a mkV gti from her in 2005 and follwed her to hawthorn to buy an R in 2010. solitaires servicing despite being a bit exy has led to no troubles and excellent personal service to me.

Times have changed lincs. Its not fair to cast a shadow on Lynas based on your experience 2 years ago.

We bought most of our cars from Solitaire. I've almost always dealt with Michael at Medindie and can't fault him. Great bloke to do the business with, highly recommend.

I bought my GTI from Ashley Matthews - now the Sales Manager at Lynas VW - when he was at Solitaire. Great bloke, good price, would recommend.

im glad things have changed with getting matthew on board... although tim the shark wouldn't have changed. his stares still burn holes in my car when i drive past! i don't feel guilty though, he still has his classic car and ferrari collection!
