After being a member on here for a few years now and a di hard TDI owner
I seem to have developed a craving for the Mk2 GTI, preferably the later year
ones early 90's in standard form, standard steelies, no mods, Aus compliance.

From reading all the posts back to 2005 all in one hit my info is a bit of a blur,
so I don't have to reread I hope the experts can answer a few questions.

What years were this model sold here in Aus.

Colour range, Ive only seen Red,white, silver, what about the dark green that
seem to be wanted in the UK.

I think I read somewhere only about 150 or 200 were ever sold here.
I also think I read somewhere a Mk2 version of the Mk2 GTI was released
what year did this happen and what was the difference. 1990-93 ??

Where can I find more info on this model.

Thanks Guy's
Neil.

My Aus delivered model is a 1990 build but first registered in 1991. I'd assume all the others would be the same. I think there were four colours available: red, white, silver and black. Oak green is a nice colour, but we never got it from the factory. I think the import number was around 250ish.

Not sure what you are trying to say here:

don't know about a 'mk2' version of the mk2 gti, but it did get a big-bumper update around 1990 or so if thats what you mean. all the aus-spec mk2's were big-bumper models.
cheers

400 mk2 gti's were sold in aus.
all 4 door 8valve low power spec gti's.
All had power steering, A/C, manual windows, electric mirrors, and none had "factory" sunroofs.
