I placed +Polo +Giac into the search function and this was one of the threads:
http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/showthread.php?t=19057&highlight=Polo+Giac

You will find a user by the name of "Callen" about halfway down the page...he had/has GIAC on his Polo...PM him.

Thanks Giallorosso. i got the flash done early Saturday morning ;)
The power is great, but it just seems to surge all of a sudden every now and then. i was told i will need a few hundred km's before it settles down. the turbo lag is still there and i really hope it smoothe's out soon. thought it may have had something to do with the traction control so but it is the same on or off.

The stock valve just can't handle the extra pressure and will leak causing the surging you describe.

Surging from a chip does not sound right, but I don't know the Giac product.

The poor airflow from standard intake can cause some issues and varied response when putting your foot down.

I had some fluctuations in boost before doing the dump pipe and FMIC mods. There is also the N75J valve and N249 bypass which address surge / boost fluctuation issues. You may want to have a look on Polos.net (http://www.tigerstyle.co.uk/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=43) for some info on these mods.

I have a N75J lying around if you want to try it.

Sending a thanks to Blitzen for the good price on BOV and for installing it for me this evening.
power delivery seems much smoother now. i think it was leaking a lot of boost. Feeling much better about the tune now.

hey mate,

are you in Northbridge Sydney or WA?

Sydney :) not WA :)

the only thing i do notice is that the car really hastily jolts if i go from say 75% to 50% throttle once the turbo is spooled (but i assume thats the bypass valve kicking in somewhat)

Cool, I'm very close (Willoughby rd)

Symptoms could relate to your air intake being a bit choked.

Had my Polo dyno'd today.
104.9KW ATW.
Not to bad considering stock is 110KW ATFW and the only performance mod is a GIAC tune.

Hi, that seems very low unless you had heat soak. I got mine dynoed last year with just a GIAC tune and was consistantly getting a between 119-122ATW over a few runs. It could be worth trying another dyno to see if the one you used was out. If not you might have a boost leak.

I went with a mate who has a Mk6 Golf GTI DSG with APR tune done and his was reading 135KW ATFW which he thought was low as well. Might have been the Dyno. It was approx 33 Degres inside with 40% humidity. Not sure how that will affect things.

Then go full throttle up to 4,000rpm and you should see max boost be reached (typically 18-21psi for most tunes) and then see the boost drop to ~15psi, then back up and so on. If you don't have a gauge you can feel the drop in power as the boost drops, then feel the power come back slightly as it rises again.
