I saw a green VW Caddy, just like this one, at the Sydney Motor Show some years back. I wonder if this is it??

I couldn't imagine there being many more around Australia??

Most likely the same one James ;)

My bet is when VWA were going to launch Caddy and LT in 1997/98 that the Caddy above was ADR approved and sold shortly after the show prior to VW pulling Caddy and LT before sales officially commenced.

So I wonder if there is a 1998 LT running around :D ?

Shame really. VW could have owned this segment of the LCV market here in Australia, making it to market just before the Holden Combo and Citroen Berlingo.

Though, looking at the sales figures for the current Caddy, it seems delaying the Caddy until last year has paid off, as it now outsell's the Holden Combo, Citroen Berlingo and Renault Kangoo.

The Caddy is/was ACT registered, & was being attended to at the Volksfactory, Braeside Ave, Holden Hill.

The Volksfactory are very good supporters of the Volkswagen Club of SA, and both our Volkswagens are serviced there.

Nice wheels, what size?

Is that price each (presumably with tyres) or for 4/5 (presumably without tyres). If the latter, maybe you could bring some with you.

I've just noticed the 'Caddy Picture Thread' and thought I best add an image of mine to boost numbers.

My Caddy TDI manual is only six weeks old. Options include ESP, all extra air bags, cruise control, load area lining and insulation (rubber floor, EchoPanel walls), colour coding, metallic paint, 17" Sportline wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres, Sportline grill cappings and Sportline lower bumper chrome grill. I've also badged it, so no CADDY TDI badging, and removed all the nasty dealer stickers, plate surrounds etc (so much ugly landfill).

I have signage for my business being made this week which should be installed next Monday. I'll post more images then.

Cheers, Stewart

Thanks Preen59,
the van is 18 mths old now, had the rear done (dynamat and carpeted), helps when youngest son is a motor trimmer! Got the windows tinted, tow bar fitted and all the sign writing is done. I based the original van signs on the VW TDi racer and this van is a more elaborate version of that. I would love to get it lowered as you have done but I would have to pay some one to do it as I do not have the expertise to do this myself. Yours looks smick! I'm definately gunna have to get mine done, what a difference! I'll sort the pics soon.

I share your pain. In my case, someone with a scaffolding plank hit the light while manoeuvring in a car park. From the look of the damage to yours, I would suggest this is what has happened.

I have ordered one from an e-bay reseller in Germany. Unfortunately he does not ship to Australia, so I had to get my cousin in the UK (where he does ship to) order it and he will then send it to me via Royal Mail parcel post. It is still cheaper to do this than what VGA want to charge for just the replacement light unit only. Fitting is extra.

If you don't have a relative or friend in the UK, you might see if a kind soul on the Caddy2k forum will help get it to you. Someone kindly offered to do this for me, but I have a cousin there as well.

One thing is getting the money over. I am fortunate where I will send him $110 via Penny Transfer (no fee), and then he will pay me the balance back into my Paypal account.

On getting the old light out, there are two screws on the inside of the door/tailgate. You do need a right angle or stubby Philips Head screw driver to undo them if you have a tailgate. No problem if you have barn doors. Once undone, you carefully ease the light unit out. You will need a flat blade screwdriver to ease the retaining clip on the plug/socket. Have some sort of loop through the wiring as it threatens to disappear back into the door/tailgate frame.

You can try and make a temporary repair by getting the broken unit out and using super glue and some silicone sealant to keep the water out.

When you do get a replacement unit, don't throw this one away as the LED board is still OK and you have a spare.

Thanks mate I will do as you advise and make a temp repair over the weekend, I don't understand why they can't make the light fit inside of the glass instead of on the outside it would look a lot cleaner, maybe I might try filling the hole and fitting an led strip inside the glass. I wonder if anyone else has tried this?

Drives great. I've still got 5cm left on the front and another hole on the rear hangers. My front mud flaps were scrapping on speedhumps and occasionally bottoming out so I have removed them for now. The handling is great. Gone is the body roll and the diving when breaking. Too early to tell in regard to tire wear.

Can someone please help me out if 15x8 will fit on my 1981 vw rabbit pick up/caddy, I was hoping to buy these I'm not sure what will be needed for them not to rub. If not what's the most in width I can go

esr wheels sr03 rims options. View esr wheels sr03 hypersilver wheels at RimsDealer.com (http://www.rimsdealer.com/wheels-rims/ESR%2520WHEELS-SR03-Hypersilver.html) these are the ones I was going to buy,

also if anyone has found a site for rims that have the same bbs style/look that have 15x7's please send a link on here!
