Hi Golf V owners

I have just today joined your group - didn't know you existed until I sought info on 'service costs' on the net; I have been quoted $1800 for my next service @ 120000km. Is this true and what do they do for this? How many parts and how much labour can there be?! Of course I'll ask my dealer to quote costing, but thought I may benefit from others' experiences.

It's probably fine, depending on what is occurring but if it's the DSG service that's around $4-500 and the timing belt. A regular service should be around $300 and a larger service around $5-600 plus the extras. They may also be doing the plugs. Take a look in your manual as this will tell you what they would be doing.

Thanks Maverick. I'll certainly ask for clarification, and yes, it could be all of the above .... DSG, plugs [?Pumpe Düse] etc so I suppose, it's like a mid-life rejuvenation.

While I'm at it, should I replace shockers as a matter of course [if as I feel the ride is softening] or do I wait until Service recommends. And what is this that read about, a 'chip' for growing torque on TDIs?

This site is a wealth of knowledge.

Thanks

The TDI will have some different requirements so best to check your manual and this should match against what the dealer is quoting.

60k and 120k are pretty big services.
