Not sure if there'd be much traffic for a dedicated forum. The vortex model section moves really slowly and they've got 309000 members.
I've got a bit of a collection. ;)

I work in a hobby store, so I order wayyy too many cars.
Tamiya V5 Golfs can be found on ebay pretty frequently. I managed to get a NIB tamiya mk4 golf 1:10 electric RC last week from ebay for $200. Completely unbuilt from 1997 :)

Aussieveedubbers have a dedicated Model Car Forum, and it is HUGE. I don't post there because it's mainly aircooled.

Sadly not. They've been out of production for several years, but there's always a couple on ebay. Expect to pay $50ish plus postage

These are pretty hard to come by, It's taken about two years to find enough bits to get it this far. I'm still searching for a proper bumper and an unmolested chassis. Here's the stats from www.tamiyaclub.com
model number 58025 model nameVW Golf Racing Group 2 released22-Aug-81 drive2WD rear suspensionPan 1/12 chassis chassis desc.FRP plate bodyLexan polycarbonate motorRS-540S

If you must have one for yourself there's a company in the UK making MK1 Golf and scirocco shells to suit the Tamiya M03 chassis. see www.kamtec.co.uk or their ebay store for details.

I thought i might show you guys my model car collection. Now i know there not VW's but since Porsche now owns almost 30%(controlling interest) of VW it could be a fitting time.
Its taken me around 12 years to collect all these models. Nearly all are 1:43 scale and made by Minichamps. Most of the cars are from limited edition sets from Porsche themself. I've got no idea how many there is but if you want count them from the photos please let me know. I've run out of space and am currently trying to find a matching cabinet.
Recently i have just started collecting Minichamps Ducati Motorcycles. There is one also signed by Troy Bayliss along with scaled down Replica helmet.
Oh yeah if your wondering that is a Porsche 996 Turbo wheel sitting next to the cabinet.

Nah Dom. There my brothers collection.
I used to collect & make Ferarri models but they have been stored away for a very long time now. There been estimated at more than a few gorilla's due to the rarity of some of them.
Here are those badges Dom. Brought new from VW Motorsport around 15 years ago.

Nice Gpk. Just like the 40 year old virgin says you've got to keep the collectables integraty by keeping them in the original packaging. Your sitting on gold!!!
I can tell you the hardest thing about collecting models is finding room for all the boxes they come with.

HAHAHHAHAHAHAH,you made me laugh!!! love that movie! all the really good stuff is untouched/unopened and away from natural light.but I doubt burago are going to be collectable in the future.what do you think?
I know its not a vw but I do have a original tamiya senna mclaren mp4 f1 model 1/20 scale, still untouched.think thats worth anything?

27-02-2007, 08:41 PM
I'm not sure the Burago model will be worth enough to set up your own stereo shop but the Senna model might give it a nudge. I've got a limited ediion Senna in a go-cart lurking up the backof the cabinet. Not sure if you can see it or not.

Fujimi have just released a 1/24 Golf Mk 1,that my son Seb found in one of his plastic kit modelling mags. He has also made the 1/35 Kubelwagen with Rommel. Their early version of the ww2 Beetle looks interesting. I have the 1/12 scale Porsche RS 935 and a metal 1/24 I think, 911/964. We will try to post some photos although time and dust has caught up with the 935. It is now out of production and when i checked Ebay last year some were selling up to $500, and I paid $120 for it back in the mid 90s.

You start off just collecting one of each particular model then before you know it your buying 3 of the same thing but in differrent colors. Just did that again recently when i bought 3 997 GT3 RS's in both the oranges and that awful green. I think i've got an addicion of some kind. Does anyone know what it is called?

For the moment I can add this one of my 1:10 Nitro RC, just one of the Nitro RC family I have although I am looking for a VW shell of some sort for my Revo 3.3 Monster truck, I also have a little electric that has a Baja shell available when I get round to getting back to the hobby place.

Saw a Mk3 VR6 at the hobby shop and was really really tempted to get it.
I ordered in the Fujimi plastic Mk3, which the local place managed to stuff up, so I ended up with the GTi instead. Will build that up and see how it goes. Considering I want to build it as close to my VR6 as possible and because I have no badges, it should work OK. :D
I have a 1:18 Mk4 die cast, wouldn't mind a Mk3 variant too, but we will see what I can find.

Here's one for the enthusiast:
1/18 scale Volkswagen Golf V Zender GT, diecast model car by Norev. This is a great looking model with very good paint finish, opening doors, tinted windows, detailed interior, opening bonnet, opening rear tailgate, detailed engine bay, steerable front wheels, mag wheels and low profile tyres.
All for only AUD$139.00 (US$121.63)!

I would like a 1:18 scale Mk 3 VR6.
Good luck with that, there is a plastic model kit by Fujimi:

I ordered it in at the local hobby shop and ended up with a MK3 GTI kit instead, which will tide me over in the meantime while I try to hunt up a VR6 one.
As for a die cast model, I would love to find a 1:18 die cast Mk3 in any variant, but it seems they just don't exist. MK4's yes (which I have), but no Mk3's.
(on a side note, the Mk4 "GTI" has a 1.9TDI under the bonnet for some reason :P )

There used to be a shop near the corner of Elizabeth and Flinders Lane, Melbourne (I think). Used to sell model cars like these. Wouldn't mind picking up a Mk5 (for my nephew of course!)
Anyone know the shop?

Is it the one across the river from the crown casino and right next to/under the train lines? The one I am thinking of of is a short walk down the road from the train station in a small group of very old shops. I think some of the other shops were like a knitting/sewing shop and another was a CD shop?? :?
If it's that one, I went in there a few years ago when I was down that way and was very imressed with the stock. I'm pretty sure last time I was down there it was closed down.
EDIT: Oh wait!! I know... there is another one that is actually attached to the Flinders street station building, or a building very close by. You have to walk down a set of stairs to underneath the building where the hobby shop is....is that it??

No, that's Hearns Hobbies. The one I was referring to is off Elizabeth St. I think it was Flinder Lane. It had a huge stock of die cast cars.
EDIT: Found it. It's called Model Mania. 94 Elizabeth St.
