Hi everybody.

I'm looking at purchasing a Golf 2.0 TDI, and I've heard rumours that a brand new (and improved) TDI engine will be released some time later this year. Does anybody know when these new engines will become available in Australia?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to our forum. The new diesel is scheduled for the '08 import cars. It's a common rail engine.

So when do the '08 import cars arrive in Australia? Not until '08, or is it mid '07?

I'm guessing we won't see it till 2009 in the new Polo and Golf ;)

I've been led to believe that the GT Diesel will arrive in the October shipment of updated GTs when the original 420 GTs run out. They will be supposedly identical, other than a GT Sports badge. The Sports name is because the Sportline petrol & diesel will go end-of-life.

Is this the same as the diesel in the A3? I was looking at getting the wife one. I was looking at the specs and I found a refernce to a 103kw and a 125kw A3 TDI? Anyone know if the 125 kw is the new motor or is it a typo and the A3 still has the 103 kw motor. I'd ask the dealer but they probably wouldn'y know:rolleyes:

New TDIs will be Common Rail technology, the current one is Pump Duse (PD) technology ;)

Read PD vs CR in Diesel forum ;)

CR is said to be more quiet and efficient I believe ;)

On the 125kW its a decent engine and comes with DPF so it is a safe buy.

Hey Phaeton,

Sorry for my ignorance, but what's a DPF, and what makes it a "safe buy".

Cheers fella

What brackie said DPF = Diesel Particulate Filter ;)

I think its a safe buy cause of DPF, for resale purposes it sounds good (enviromentally speaking) to have it :D

Cool, thanks for that.
I get a bit confused with all the esp,bi-x, tsi, dsg, gti, gt,tdi, rwc,a/c,p/s,t/c, etc...
Can someone sort out a glossary of terms for all these new products, for the hard of thinking?

I could add one to VW Lounge if you wanted ;)

List me all the acronyms and I'll do a list :D
