Hi guys,
When the headlights are set to 'auto' setting, why do the front fog lights not come on... i have found the only way to set the front fog lights to come on with the headlights is to take it off auto and set it to the front lights, then pull out the switch and change it to fog lights.
Oh, i should mention the car is 2007 Golf GTI

because you're not supposed to have fog lights on all the time, hence require manual operation.
im waiting for mav to leave his mark..................

Because legally only the headlights should come on.
Search around here and you will see multiple threads about this exact issue
Edit: BY you're just too fast!

I didnt realise it was illegal to drive with your headlights + foglights on.
Every second car these days has both the main lights and foglights on at the same time.
I have to say though, the autolight function is awesome!!

Legislation has been put into effect that means you can now be fined for driving with fog lights on when the scenario does not require them.
Apparently something to do with dazzling and distracting other drivers.

I'd like to see a demerit point being awarded for incorrect use of foglight, as the OP indicates to me that there many people still don't know it is not a driving light during dry weather to look cool :frown:

Lol, it is more of a w-ank factor thing in Australia than anything else because we barely ever need it, especially in QLD.
The funny part is that most police vehicles (Aurions and Commondores) have foglights on but they are the police so you can't use that as an excuse.

Because the auto function would mean they wouldnt be on during the day, and all cool fog light bandits have them on during the day with side lights and at night with headlights!

They do look cool, especially during the day.. sarcasm:troll:
Not to be rude guys but this topic has been covered many times before. So to avoid another circle of threads that always end up in the same spot, I'll lock this one down before it becomes a cool vs. illegal war :google:
