I reckon that we have three Tassies on this forum. Golf run sounds good....If my diesel could keep up with your GTis! You guys who are members of other Oz VW forums, why not test the waters for Tassies there? Maybe they will come and visit us at this forum...And even register! Also, with the two Spirit ferries being discounted so much, it's easy for mainlanders (especially those in Sydney and Melbourne) to hop on the ferry and come over for a weekend. We have a tourist cottage on our farm that could sleep a heap of people.

I've got 60 sleeps to the next season of milking (7 days a week 4.30am to 6.30pm) so it better be soon. Going to Orford, Hobart next weekend. Can we work something around that?

Enough of this Kingston sentimentality... I have also left Kingston and have returned to Hobart and now live in Fern Tree.

Willing to catch up and have a drive, not particularly concerned where to as long as it is a decent road.

bugger, ive opted to spend money making my car go fast :D so i havent got rego :( but ill do my best to work something out. mikinoz, what do you drive?

mikinoz

Rego is a pain, but be thankful that we don't have green and pink slips like NSW etc...

I drive a Black 1.6 Golf, Silver roof racks and the standard wheels (steel). I love this car, just gets on and does what is asked, but in good time!!

Also have a 1969 Sumbeam Imp and a 2005 XT Forester to keep me satisfied for 'drivers' cars.

When are you getting the renewal sticker and we can get out?

Also have a 1969 Sumbeam Imp and

Must have been a late one...And a Sunbeam! Still have the Rootes made Coventry Climax engine? These were great cars and would give a mini Cooper a scare even in standard form. And oh, so tuneable!

Yeah it has a Cov Climax still - 930cc of power! Tuneable? You need to come for a ride in her! ;)

FYI Tassie guys, the Subaru Safari will have loads of action this weekend in Geeveston. If you are going down, send me a PM as I am going to go down with the Forester club guys.

Peace!

ok, so a few tassie guys have been throwing round the idea of having kind of a club "meeting" in the not to distant future. TassieGTi suggested we all head out to baskerville, make a day trip of it, have a bbq there and spend the day on the track! as far as i know its $80 for as many laps as you can handle?

Well I will be happy to join in... Really not sure how the performance of a 1.6 Mk IV is on 80 series steel rims, but what the heck!

Let us know when you get it sorted...

I thought it was only registered clubs that can do the Baskerville Tack days? No quoting me on that...

its not really a lub day. by club day i meant that all the tassies in this club should have a meeting :P you can just use the track for a day, for $80, we will use it as a group though i guess. yeah, well my 1.6 mk1 will hopefully be heading up, and thats on standard wheels, but thats not gonna stop me having a bit of fun :D
well love to see all you tas-wegians head up, will post updates soon.

I am trying to get to baskerville for the 14th, will not be able to do any track time. No Licence or club affiliation yet. The only laps I have done on baskerville are in Mercedes Benz Trucks.

I will bring camera gear and see what pics can get though.

All going well the 16v GTi should be doing a few hot laps on Sunday! :) May look a little different minus the clear headlights and Ronals! :) Going to make the most of my racing tyres off the Cyborg! I'll try and get some pics taken on the day!

Club Day is this Sunday August 14 at Baskervile Raceway. It is organised and run by MCCT (Mini Car Club of Tasmania). To take part you will need a basic CAMS license ($80 a year and simply fill out application form that can be collected from CAMS office in Davey St).
The cost to take part in Club Day is $85. You will need a current approved helmet, bonnet strap and blue triangle sticker (battery). You would need to be at the track by 8.30am. Format for the day is morning qualifying (4 laps) on your own. 4 lap super sprints against 3 other cars would begin at about 12pm and go all afternoon until it either gets dark or everyone has had enough and wants to go home!
There is always a huge variety of cars and abilities! You can ring the neck of your car or simply cruise around for a bit of fun! :)
