ok i think i should start a thread and save countless ones asking questions about stuff. I bought this car about 8-9 months ago unrego with heaps of little problems, most um some are fixed but i can live with the others for the time being.

1st thing i want to know is the car has been fitted with rear disks, bigger booster and bigger master, (i think from a kombi). the problem is that the rears lock up under medium - hard braking and i need to fit a pressure regulator. thats all i know so far can any1 help me out getting one and how to fit 1, can i use 1 from a different car??

thanks your help is appreciated

that was easy enough to come up with a solution.. NEXT problem....

The car is really hard to start after the 15 min- 2hour, im pretty sure it is fuel pressure i have replaced the accumulator but not 100% if it wasnt broken to start with as it was second hand and from a VOLVO LOL, another thing is when I accelerate though a corner the car cuts out for a mili second and comes on again with a big jerk cause my foot is to the floor.. hehe. when i start it cold it starts first pop but it takes 10-20 seconds for all 4 cylinders to fire it starts with 2 then 3 then all 4 r good.

any ideas?????

the mechanic doesnt want to touch it :?

the engine is 1.8 k-jet mk2 GTi engine code EV, diesel fuel tank.

you should be able to get those sciroco valves on ebay motors in the US for about $20 us, they come up quite often

hi matt
i do remember that there was a solenoid cut off valve with a relay switch installed near the fuel pump on that car when the conversion was first done, to stopped the loss of fuel pressure, at the time it stopped the hard starting when hot
it might not be workng anymore could be worth checking

it was not the distrbuter as i ran a 16v one for a while & it still did the same thing

the injectors could also be the problerm
you can buy the sonic cleaners for those at adli of all places now quite cheap

let me know what happens

cheers ian

For the fuel system, check the operating pressure, but it does appear to be a dud accumalator or the check valve on the outlet of the fuel pump. from memory there is another check valve up at the metering head end of the line also ( after the filter..)

Think the accumalator residual pressure is 3 bar... ( rusty brain..)..

those discs will fit if you are already running vented gti discs and calipers. they wont if you have solid discs. then you will also need to change the hub.

yes screw the brake proportining valves into the back lines.

Hey mate my car is a mk1 with the same engine and i have got all of these problems that you mentioned above aswell. My car has also got a diesel tank so If we could both find a soulution it would be twice as good.
